Hi all! I ve decided to create this, so I will not be suppressing any negative thoughts on sitting those exams! Just have not a clue if I passed or failed! Thought I done okay, but do not have the slightest idea!!

I honestly am not smug,

I know personally that im going to get a very good job.

I have a very good academic record, went to UCD got 1st, In big four and passed my exams first time.

I think its called reality...... and confidence that out of 100 ACA im proberely in the top 20%..

I'm not rubbing it in people faces but people on this forum have to face the facts...

Only top 30% in my opinion are going to get the Financial Controller jobs.. as the market is saturated!!

TBH Ma Long I don't think your in a position to decided what is or isn't a waste of prinz's time.

Your comments don't come across as realist they reek of smugness and superiorite. There is not an ounce of sympathy or compassion.

I'm impressed that prinz took your comments on the chin and could see them for what they were.

As for the ACA qualification. It’s a highly recognised qualification that would be useful in a number careers, it shows commitment, professionalism, a good knowledge of accountancy, tax and the business environment. I actually can't see job where this qualification wouldn't come in useful.

My point exactly, the ICAI main goal now is to stop the numebr of people qualifying becasue its devaluing the ACA qualification and one way to do this si to make exam very very hard, so that people give up and do something else.. thats the only reason

About 10 yrs ago my lecture told me the faes were known as the grudge only about 40% Ppass rate..

I think things are going back to the way they were which is a good thing.

There has been a dumbing down of leaving cert grades, colledge grades and ACA qualification.

Its about time this was stopped as it benefits nobody in society... as its is now very difficult to tell the differnce between average people and good people...

If pass rate for cap 2 and fae dropped to about 40% or less this would show that the people who pass first time are the smart ones and are more lieky to get a good job!!!

in my opinion the difficulty of the exams is a good mechanism for seperating the wheat from the chaff....

As long as he has the motivation he should keep going. I'm guessing he's in his mid 20's so still has 40 years of working ahead of him. Plenty of time to succeed. The CAI give you six attempts for a reason, in my opinion repeating an exam will make you even stronger in that particular subject compared to most first time passes considering they are mainly around the 50 mark.

In response to your head in the clouds comment, everybody is at different stages in their lives and have different goals and can make up their own minds. If you're not going to be positive just say nothing.

I stand by my comments in relation to your posts. I would be embarrassed to have them representing me on any forum.

My bosses this morning were very commendable. They congratulated me and gave me the hope that Ill pass FR next summer. I am so lucky. Love where I work. Love the people. Love accounts.

Well said, i feel gutted for those who didnt pass, this whole system is a farce, id love to see how many qualified people would pass if they went back through the new system.. glad to have passed the two i had to repeat but im not looking forward to the nightmare that will be FAE.

The exams are all about exam technique ! Thats why there is such a good pass rate at FAE !! Students understand the exam technique a lot better in final year once they get past CAP 1 or CAP 2 obstacles! I'm sickened to hear that negative attitude from MA Long. jamesw2 are you tellin me to appeal? and ur man that failed the 3 exams, weight up your options before you do anything. im on the same boat as you, but theres no point worrying and as for them tellin u to pack in, if we listened to them wed get nowhere. i failed all 4 in summer 08, was told that i had to get them or id be let go, i got 2, and 47 in fin acc, so i was close to gettin 3. (was still let go) u shud have a look at cpa, iati or acca.

tbh I think it's brilliant. They're after cheering me up no end. What more motivation could I have to get the exams, qualify and then tell the institute to stick it! :pac: Also reminds me of the type of people I do not want to spend my working life with as colleagues.

all i wanted was to pass fin acc, got 42, 47,42 and now 46. for f*** sake. i wanted to pass this to get an exemption as i was going to switch to acca where i have 6 exams left to do, but to be honest, i think im wasting my time. anyone any opinions. by the way, i hate the sight of ACA, ill never ever recommend it to anyone again . . . . 39% pass rate, wtf??????? maybe i should appeal the 46%????

WHY WHY WHY is the paper so long?

In my opinion impassable because of the length.
Technically not so difficult.
Since when did FR become rocket science??

I push out sets of accounts in work every week. Another year to sit one exam. Am miffed!!

To Prinz: I work with an accountant 60+ that never passed his exams.
He is truely gifted and sought after.
Exams dont make a good accountant.
Keep going til you cant go no more........

Is this Polish builder Ma Long speaking? (a) this was my first year doing CAP2, have never sat this level before (b) I really couldn't give a toss about what my "constant failures" are going to look like, they won't be on my CV, just like my grades in years 1,2,3 etc of Uni don't appear on my C.V. and no one else will care because I never intend on working in accountancy anyway.

There are already a lot of chartered accoutants at the moment coming out of practise and your constant failing will put u at the bottom.

I think its time to be realsitic, how amny times ahve u done these exams if its your second time well then ok.. u cn do them again

Sad but happy!! Another 6 months before I can do the FAE or 18 months before sitting.

How ever I passed 3 out of the 4. Thank f*** no more SFMA, Audit or Tax.

Got 41 % in Fin Reporting.
Probably no good to appeal. Any feedback welcome!!
Also I would love to get solutions to Autumn paper!!

Edit: I got my breakdown. I only failed one so that's a bit more comforting.
