I was let go last year after failing two as well.
The way the ACA is run is a complete joke and the pressure the firms put on students is over the top(in some firms anyway).
I did distance learning ATT(uk tax) exams two weeks ago and am waiting for my results in January and will then go on to do my CTA(Chartered) then if I get them. Its looking like a wise decision now as there is **** all work in this country and there seems to be a recruitment freeze in the Big 4. The ATT/CTA is modular like the ACCA which is a big advantage in mo opinion rather than being forced to sit four at one sitting.

for the secound time the intitute in its wisdom has said the website will be off line between 7 and 10 in the morning what a joke!!!!!!

I’m feeling the pressure at the moment as well, but just keep the head down and hope for the best, it’s out of our hands now.

I am the only one who failed in my firm too and if I dont pass its P45 tomorrow. I am so nervous now just cant concentrate on anything at work and feel so sick in my stomach.

I wonder if there's going to be as much double marking for the repeats. Apparently the exam board double marked a lot more summer scripts this year which would explain why so many people got brought up to 50 exactly.
There was an article in the Accountancy Ireland magazine a few months ago about how they mark the scripts. I think only borderline scripts get double marked by different examiners. Have a look at the link if you're interested:

It also says they judge before the exam if the time allocated to the marks is 'reasonable'. After sitting them and knowing what I was doing, it amazes me that they think the CAP2 papers were of a reasonable length. They didn't factor in the extra time it takes to organise what you need from the case study. The Prof 3 questions were more compact and easier to bash through.
I had no issue with the difficulty in the exam, but they absolutely crammed those case studies with detail. Like I know I'll probably need to get 60% minimum from the 80% of the paper I answered well to pass - which is definitely possible but it's going to be tight. 20% of my papers were rushed and probably crap even though I could have done it. Really hope I done enough.

I really want to pass!!!!! if I don't I 'll be the only one in the whole firm who has failed this year, plus no pay rise, plus extra money for repeats again. I thought the exams went well at the time but the more i think about it the more i think ive prob done worse than first time.:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: Think I'm gonna go crazy before friday comes.!!!!!!!!!

tbh I am fairly definite that I failed tax and probably FR, but not sure of passing any really, came out of Audit less sure than I did in the summer. Like Hackysack there, some questions for me seemed to go fine and then others were just a joke. I would be  if I pass three and fail tax, same thing happened as the summer sitting, after three terrible days and confidence completely shot, my head was not together at all when it came to tax on the last day.
The FAE pass rate is really ringing alarm bells, along with the three attempts to pass in 14 months or so. That was for the last year of the old system, surely for the first year of the new syllabus a similar arrangement should have been made, especially after all the cock-ups during the year, between notes, exam papers etc.
Going to be €€€ for me I reckon.

The wait is killer. I just want to know. Everyone who made a decent stab at the exam seems to be between 45-55% so you just have to hope you done enough.
What I did do I was quite confident in but I had to rush 20% of the tax and FR paper so I'll pick up hardly any marks. I just hope I did enough over the 4 papers. I was happy just to make a decent attempt this time. I did jealously look at the pass rates for the FAE and wonder why so many CAP2 students are struggling. Even those who passed just scraped over the line. Passing them is a serious achievement.
I think I deserved to pass but it's going to be tight. I'm afraid of falling short on one paper. Could be FR, but who knows it could be any of the four. I tried to think of it that I only needed to get the papers half right, and I think I did that. It's easy to worry about the silly marks you threw away though.
It's pastures new for me if I don't get them but I'd be glad to move on. If I don't get them I'll do the Elevation scheme or do the ACCA's who have much better learning materials.

I'm bracing myself for my inevitable financial hit if it comes to me having to repeat.
I honestly don't know how I did in them. I thought some parts went well and others went disastrously.
It's just so hard to tell, but i'm at the stage where I just want to know and get it over and done with.
