The 50 million year old
Algeripithecus, which was once considered to be the oldest known ancestor of apes (and therefore humans), has been reclassified as a relative of the lemur family.
This has given hope to proponents of the 'out of Asia' theory. However, caution should be taken as a current lack of evidence (for the 'out of Africa' theory), does not mean 'out of Asia' is correct by default, as similarly no potential human ancestors from that time period have been found in Asia thus far. Which one is correct? Only time and more discoveries will tell.
