If we were a south american country most of the politicians who rule your every day life would already have been shot in the phoenix park, but not here in little Ireland. Hell no. We just continue to bend and bow and let the so called elite walk all over us. I'm irish, proud to be irish but embarrassed as hell to see what being irish has come to.

Its the same the world over with greedy politicians and not confined to Ireland. Did you not hear of the MP's expense scandal in England? Where politicians living in mansions with moats were buying duck islands with tax payers money?

SEÁN HAUGHEY charged the taxpayer for a stepladder. An invoice submitted on December 31, 2007, from O'Driscoll Office Systems, included E248.35 for a '7 tread aluminium' stepladder, E89.72 on three 27-litre bins and E15.03 on six 'large crates' which were supplied to the Dublin North Central TD
DICK ROCHE, now European Affairs Minister, claimed E3,057 for 'Christmas cards, art work and packaging' in 2007. Mr Roche also claimed E3,598 in advertising costs incurred for wishing constituents a Happy Christmas in local newspapers.
MINISTER of State Barry Andrews charged the taxpayer E6,132 for 5,000 personalised pens. He also received 300 pen pouches as part of the package. The Fianna Fáil TD for Dún Laoghaire, who is the Minister for Children, ordered the pens and pouches from the Booterstown company Creative Storm which is based in his constituency.
Nor are the questionable claims confined to Fianna Fáil ministers. Former Green Party leader Trevor Sargent claimed for more than $40,000 which was paid to two Green activists. This included a $9,080 payment to Ken Duffy, who unsuccessfully ran in the Swords constituency in last June's local elections. The claim was for the 'research and supply of information relating to issues within the Swords Ward, writing of articles to publicise events and Minister Sargent's work in the area', as well as 'drawing up of press releases pertaining to ongoing and new issues as they arise'. Minister Sargent also paid former Green Party councillor Joe Corr E31,511 to work as his parliamentary assistant in 2008. Mr Corr was hired for the job even though the Department of Agriculture already has a dedicated Press team, while the Green Party has its own media office. Fellow Junior Agriculture Minister Tony Killeen also snubbed the Department's Press team. He instead used his secretarial allowance to pay a private PR consultant almost E30,000 to carry out media work on his behalf in 2007 and 2008. The money was paid to Clare-based PR executive Mark Dunphy.
Mr Roche also claimed E3,598 in advertising costs incurred for wishing constituents a Happy Christmas in local newspapers.
To: john.odonoghue@oireachtas.ie; Ceann.Comhairle@oireachtas.ie Dear (soon to be ex-) Ceann Comhairle, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you that I think you are a disgrace to your office and to public service in general. For God's sake, do the decent thing; pay back the money you owe the hard-working tax-payers of Ireland, resign, then get out of our sight. Sincerely, Xxxxxx Xxxxxxx
Just how twisted is Irish politics is examplified in the meeting that will take place tomorrow to decide his further fate! See below pic - then dwell on this: How can they seriously do anything forcefully and useful when they themselves are at the same act to varying degrees (total for this lot - 1.3 million in the last two years alone!)! Talk about hypocrisy! Expect something timid, full of hot air and PR soundbite spin. Nothing more.
