I rather enjoy the relaxed nature of a thread derailment, but in the general public's interest, maybe we should all hang out here.

I have heard from several people that engineers have been known to throw paper and other things at their lecturer during lectures... an intensely childish and disrespectful display, though I can't say I'm surprised given some of the gurning windowlickers I have come across from engineering.

We were told the opposite (the class just finished Civil this year), the year before us had 6 or 7 people who got 1:1's, our class got 26! It wasn't even due to the exams being easy or anything, one of the lecturers even mentioned to me that they set "taxing" exams since they had seen our grades had been above average in 3rd year

I wouldn't really consider the year stupid, some very smart people in it, just most of us are inherently lazy and are more concerned with havin a bit of craic/seeing sunlight.

Is that part of the rasmus thing? If so I know a few people who did it there

Yeah, I think so. You do it between 2nd and 3rd year, to get a double qualification for both Ireland and France.

year 3: Lyon
year 4: TCD
year 5: Lyon

Oh really? I thought it was just one year. I wonder why it's that particular place ... it's only been around for 50 years.

Technology degrees in France are most respected from the Grandes Écoles.

These are not your typical Anglo-Saxon or Irish university type, but more like an IT in concept or say a Business School for Engineering and Technology.

So what's considered the best Engineering school in France is called the Polytechnique or better known as X.

They wouldn't partner with TCD as it would be to be honest below them and would devalue their school's reputation.

INSA in Lyon is one of the best engineering schools in Europe so I wouldn't worry too much.

I had a look at your timetable. Looks about right.

You only seem to have lectures timetabled for Mon, Wed and Fri.

Lecturers seem similar enough. New 2E3 lecturer though.

Yeah, their Campus' are all attached to each other. I did the year in France. Was one of the best experiences of my life but it was difficult at times. I made it through though. Never regret it though, the craic you have is something else!

That's what our idea was... But you have to pass by their standards in France, which is to do 60 ECTS which I can tell you is almost impossible. The year I did it no one passed by INSA standards. As you're on Erasmus from Trinity, you can pass the year by Trinity standards which is 45 ECTS which is do-able (but still very tough). The biggest problem is that Trinity do not accept non-technical credits (like language, sport etc...)
