Ok, so as the title says... what are your must-have soul, r'n'b & funk albums?

In terms of funk, my must-have album would be Graham Central Station - My Radio Sure Sounds Good To Me.
It's a damn good album with perhaps some of the funkiest songs I've heard.

Usually best of's/anthologys are the way to go for funk...

    Cymande - Cymande
Breakestra - The Live Mix II
Curtis Mayfield - Curtis: The Best Of
    Parliament - First Thangs
Funkadelic - One Nation Under A Groove
The J.B.'s - Funky Good Time (Anthology)
Parliament - The Best of Parliament (Give Up The Funk)
Sly & The Family Stone - Anthology
    Tower of Power - TOP

    Good funk compilations:
    Blaxploitation
    Keb Darge's Legendary Deep Funk
What It Is! Funky Soul And Rare Grooves (1967-1977)

Anyone else a fan of Cody ChesnuTT's Headphone Masterpiece? Very lo-fi and in places misogynistic, but a lot of the melodies are hazily beautiful - like a contemporary version of Sly.

One absolutely essential album has to be Bobby Womacks The Poet.

Leon Wares Inside is love is chock full of gems for everyone.

of course theres always Marvin's seventies stuff and some of the S Wonder Lp's are approaching genius.

Jackie Wilson Beautiful day is also worth checking out for some old school soul

Generally i steer clear of compilations

More electrofunk than funk but Chromeo - She's In Control, and also Fancy Footwork are excellent.
