Boards.ie Fantasy Football 2009/2010 (MOD NOTE - POST #2151)

Its back!! The boards.ie fantasy premier league code is as follows:
Code removed

Any members of this league last year should be able to renew the league so they wont need to enter the league code. Overall the Boards.ie league was the 10th best league in the world last year so congrats to all!

Also this year I will set a deadline date for entering to the end of September as many regular Boards posters suggested. Last year there was a non boards.ie user who joined the league halfway through the season - while overtaking a regular Boards.ie user. I would imagine that they saw that the boards.ie league was one of the top ranking leages in the game and used the league name to find the code.

Let the battle commence!

I think it's pretty good but I wouldn't recommend a Schwarzer/Sorensen combo considering Fulham's second match with Blackburn will be scrapped assuming they progress in the Europa League (which they will barring a total collapse). That would mean you'd have to use Sorensen in goal away to Liverpool in Week 2.

Also I'd ditch Neville and Anderson as I'm not sure they'll gain many points.

Looks very good but for the reasons mentioned above I'd ditch Sorensen due to the fact Liverpool will almost certainly drub Stoke in week 2 which would leave you screwed.

None of them look particularly appealing to me but I reckon Cameron Jerome has a chance of featuring in the first few games since Benitez is injured.

IMHO

Fulham bad for first few games.

Neville not good at all. He's a midfielder this year so only 1 point for a clean sheet and he get's very few goals or assists.

Arshavin great for the season but bad till after gameweek 4.

Drogba probably better than Torres for first few games.

I think it's a good team and I like it, but you have a short-term problem with your midfielders - several of them won't feature in week 2. Arsenal and Man City won't play so that rules out 3 of your midfielders (Arshavin, Barry, Ireland) and Everton and Villa won't play in week 2 either so neither Arteta or Young will feature. That would just leave you with Modric. I had a similar midifeld to yourself and have had to rethink things. It's a pain in the arse!

Long-term, of the dilemmas you're facing I'd personally go with Lescott over Zhirkov to begin with since Zhirkov is an unknown quantity whereas Lescott has scored consistently well the last 3 seasons.

With regards Young vs Arteta, I think Villa's first 10 games are tricky. They play Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea in the first 10 games. Everton start off with a tough game against Arsenal but from week 3 onwards their fixtures are very nice. Having Arteta then would be preferable in my opinion.

As for Davies or Cole I'd say they'd both be decent buys. I myself would likely avoid them in favour of Darren Bent though, assuming the Sunderland deal goes through. Bent is likely to feature a lot for Bruce and he's not a hothead like the other two who have been known to pick up plenty of cards.

The reason I didnt go for bent is because Im not sure he will play all the time with jones being there, do you think he will play them together?

I reckon Mikel will feature heavily for Anchelotti this season,for 5 he is a steal.
Previous years I relied on a 3 man strike partnership but Im drawn to playing Torres on his own this year.
Will probably tweak it before the season starts though.
