Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Got burned, then a bit of tan...had to train and play a hurling match in it so far, with another match tonight. Sleeping...what is that? humidity is too much:( Drinking at least 3 and 1/2 litres of water a day now, along with 3-4 portions of fruit to stay cool:)

Weather is meant to get a bit cooler from today, it might help somewhat...

Might not be so stuffy when the beers come around, and as it turns out i cant go yet again...have to keep cash aside for Planetlove on Sat:(

At least i got to stay in a nice cool cinema on Sunday while loving every minute of Drag Me to Hell:D

I have retired to a Server room with dual aircon and no windows to escape the heat and rays.

The IT office has a wall of full length windows facing the sun?!?!?!

quite easy for me, really. it's winter here. ski season's officially started too, actually. but ive actually taken to, while at work, following my boss to the outside door for her fag, cos there's actually sunlight there - and NO i dont love it for its light... it's the bloody warmth. i never know if it's sunny or raining or snowing or light or dark from my office. no bloody heat in the thing. just stay in there all day and you miss the sun easy enough.

after that, it's dusky by 5pm, entirely dark by 6. im up in the mornings at 6.30 and it's dark too, sun's starting to rise when im heading to work at 8.

please rain! and please dont stop raining until the 18th, everyone else please do some kind of rain dance just to help the people doin the leaving :)

I've mostly been staying indoors but had to walk around Cork for ages yesterday. Managed to avoid being burnt thankfully.
I don't like the sun but I am glad it's not raining. Ideal weather would be breezy, mild and dry.....well actually the ideal weather would be snow, but I doubt that will happen any time soon.

Bah. I retreat to the other side of the house, and glare reflects off the car window outside straight into my eyes. That bloated sack of hydrogen fusion is pushing it.

Oh, wait, a cloud. About bloody time!

It was 45 degrees celsius for almost a week, thank god i sleep during the day
finally a forest fire started near here and the smoke blocked out the cancer ball. Now its an even 20 degrees. Whoever started that fire deserves a medal.

Too bloody hot. I get irritable in hot weather. If this continues I may have to destroy the sun.

Let me help you with that, we'll launch a large satellite into an orbit that keeps it aligned between the sun and the earth thus effectively blocking out the sun.

Listen flancerball, we've already had this out.

I'm not impressed by this "shining" stuff. GO AWAY.

That or we build the mother of all fire extinguishers and fire it into the heart of the flamey cancer ball. We just need a pilotstupid, I mean brave enough to volunteer to fly it into the flancer ball

Almost two weeks ago I stupidly left the house without any SPF (my two friends were rushing me and it didnt look that sunny out so i thought ok fine and ran out)

Ended up sitting outside in it drinking all day..... boy was i scalded that night. usually sunburn for me anyway fades after a few days. mine has not. You can still see where i got burnt. :(

Lesson learned for me for summer 09 anyway! All i can say is thankgod theres a nice SPF built into my facial moisturiser or damn i would look even more stupid right now!

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 28,633 Mod ✭✭✭✭Shiminay

In France, it was hot and sunny. It was fierce. I however had the SPF 50 on the go all the time and I remain mostly white (with some light tanning on my arms and face). My friend who decided that using this aerosol spray instead of temporarily sticky sun-cream. Her skin turned purple with burning - it was horrendous until I gave her most of my after sun.

I have thick curtains. Occasionally I peek out to shake my fist at the sky. But not too often, too much sunlight is bad for you.

Sunlight is almost as bad as silver to be honest.

What I should do is buy a f*cktonne of mirrors, leave them out at night, and let the sun's evil magic backfire on itself come the dawn.

Tried that, it didn't work. Roasted a couple of seagulls by accident though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 31,967 ✭✭✭✭Sarky

I'm not fond of seagulls either. Good show.

Tasted fine with a little tabasco sauce on them.

If everyone put mirrors on their roof, would it help stop global warming? We should investigate...

More to the point, if we all put mirrors on our roofs, could we focus the reflected energy to immolate our enemies?

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 28,633 Mod ✭✭✭✭Shiminay

Absolutely! With a targeting geo-synchronous orbiting satellite which could beam the heat wherever I needed - take that Golden Eye!

Ban ME from the Nocturnal forum will you?!

The sun is a curse on this planet. My trip to Amsterdam was ruined by "good" weather. My pasty Irish skin almost burst into flames while I wandered around The dampkring for two hours trying to find my way back to the zoo. Then I got just as lost in Brugge I was drinking like a fish and the top shelf hash I brought with me from Amsterdam just put me in a hoop meaning I saw none of Brugge.

  • Registered Users Posts: 55 ✭✭ChasingDreams

It wasn't sunny today, thank God! I refuse to go outside when it's sunny. However, since I'm going on a holiday to California on Friday, the sun might be a bit hard to avoid. :(
