A deceiver however could speak literal truth but the words could possess alternate meanings and such; for example with the "woman born" concept and the wood travelling to Dunsinane - Macbeth wasn't lied to yet was deceived into believing that he was immortal.

Lying is a subset of deception.

Of course. At least I didn't make that mistake in an exam:D.

Em Im doing the JC but apparently there was a real leak and its being investigated as you all speak.

Backup papers are pretty likely to be used.
Unfortunately, this is one of those cases where we cannot tell if it's true or not, as information circulating in the Examination HQ says that something did in fact happen. I was told of it today too.

Rumours always start to become spread, especially after a two part examination, in this case, English. Yes, rumours have circulated, and one of these are in fact true. You may very well be alerted to this as you enter the examination centre tomorrow. In this case, the examination papers may be withdrawn tonight or replaced tomorrow.

Just be aware that the gossip is circulating around cyberspace, and SMS's are flying across the country on the matter. Right now it's being discussed and there is a lot of different answers.

In relation to the previous comment, I cannot confirm if this is true. Maybe, 'rob k', you could confirm this by stating exactly what is taking place. How did this get 'spread'? I know that some rumours were started in Drogheda, but there have been other mentions, from other sources, apparently.

Sadly, for those of you who may be very excited about this 'leak', be aware that the Commission have backup papers available, and ready, in case this happens. Superintendents are aware of these issues, and a new paper may be released on very short notice.

To finish, do be aware that even if the leak is real (separate to the alleged one spoken by the previous poster), there are precautions. A backup paper is set.

I can confirm however that I have been informed that a paper was alledgely leaked today. The Commission may change it for the backup paper regardless, due to the media and paranoia within student at the moment.

There is only one thing you can do right now, and it's my only advice, aside from the insider details I have- and that is prepare as planned your Poets and Set Text. If you are still worried, although I don't like condoning the station, listen to RTÉ 2FM tonight at 7PM, as an exam special is taking place. This will be your best source.

Thats a guy who works in the SEC.

Em I dunno how bad backup papers are but I recommend killing the one who spread it over the net.

5:26 PM was the time that message was posted.

    Good luck

It was all bull****, didn't have a programmable calculator, OR he did and knows that no one could prove it. His exam scripts were examined in minute detail but he was either very smart (not likely) about cheating, or it was bull**** (very likely)... I'm fairly sure he is in UCC now..

Now I am in no way regarding this as absolute truth but apparently, said person was handed paper2 by accident and whats coming up was passed on, getting to me...

Again I'll say it, bull**** detector is ringing like crazy at the mo. But just wondering, is it even plausible that someone could be handed the wrong paper? In my school today I'm not even sure if the examiner had paper2 in the class, why would they anyway... ?

The supposed questions were all pretty much what has been predicted which at least made me feel good for a few mins before I actually copped that its 99% likely to be bollox..

Got it too.. I'd say it's rubbish

I thought backup papers are only used if a paper has been stolen from the sealed envelopes?

It would be so stupid to use a backup paper becuase of that text, its what every teacher has been predicting since September, anyone can work it out really.
Thing is though, If the rumours keep spreading and it gets out of hand and the media go mental over it, the SEC will switch to the backup paper even if the leak wasnt genuine.

True it would be stupid to do so just because of that text. Text like this go around every year. However if there is some truth behind the paper actually leaking well in that case the backup papers may in fact be used.

If the incorrect papers were given out it would have have to have been reported to the state examinations commission. As I keep saying even if it is an true it doesn't help us.

I doubt it: they're more professional than that. They would try to isolate the centre where the supposed leak happened by contacting the superintendents. If the superintendent confirmed that there was no leak, I doubt a state organisation would be pressured by the media.

    Guys, calm down, don't worry.

I know nothing about the LC course but surely the papers are graded comparitively, so if everyone does not do too well you will be graded in comparison with eachother.
Thats what our english teacher said anyways and she grades LCs and JCs.

Maybe its only for the JC though....

    Dont worry

Who ever that supervisor was I now hate them.
Tonight it is discussing with the Department of Education about whether or not it is possible to get this contingency paper to centres aropund the country in time for tomorrow's exam at 9.30am.
However this is an interesting point. Is it possible for them to get the backup from Athlone to the entire country by tomorrow morning. Personally I would say yes provided they act fast.

Im off to study some of the unexpected poets.

Right, this isn't good. Anyone know if Everything changes or just a few things change on the back up paper?
I mean would 1) Walcott 2) Bishop 3)Montague 4) Keats come up instead of:
    !)Walcott 2) Bishop 3) Longley 4) Keats

Or would it be more likely to come up with Larkin, Rich and thw other fellwh who no-one did?

The State Examinations Commission is deciding whether or not to go ahead with a second leaving Cert paper in English tomorrow after it emerged that students in one centre have already seen the paper.
English paper two was opened by mistake at an exmination centre in Co Louth this morning.
The error was imediately spotted and the papers were taken back, accordng to the state Examiniations Commission.

It has confirmed that a number of students did see the exam paper.
The Examinations Commission has a contingency paper.
Tonight it is discussing with the Department of Education about whether or not it is possible to get this contingency paper to centres aropund the country in time for tomorrow's exam at 9.30am.
More than 115,000 second level students began their Leaving and Junior Certificate exams this morning.

The exams began with English, Paper One, and will run until 19 June.
The students will be examined in almost 100 different subjects and more than 3m exam papers have been printed.
Changes this year include a Leaving Cert timetable tweaked for a second time to relieve the pressure complained of for years by students.
Most candidates should now get at least one half-day free between now and the weekend.

    :p
So there was truth to the texts after all!!!!

Pretty sure this means that only Rich, Literary Genre and King Lear will come up this year.

    Sorry Guys.

Firstly well done to the twat who opened the wrong papers, secondly well done to all the twats saying what's on. We all knew what was on it, loads of people were basing their studying around it, and it's probably going to be changed now. If they switch to a back-up and Bishop doesn't come up I'm going to track down everyone who said "my friend said..." and break their legs. :)

    Right lads.

The paper was leaked in St. Olivers C.C.
I was there and those of us who were handed the paper all agreed to keep our mouths shut regardless of wether it was reported or not.
Unfortunatly some eegit has went and started all this stuff!
The whole centre wasn't given the paper and tose of us who were just about had enough time to scan through it before it was taken back up.
As far as i'm aware it was reported to the SEC as i was talking to the student who was helping out the attendant afterwards.
One of the top guys came down to the school. The exam attendant was called out by our principal who i was told said 'good luck', he was then sent to talk to the guy from the SEC or so i am aware. This was during the homw ec exam.

Anyway, guys theres no point in worrying about it now, if the back up paper is used, its used! For all we may have known, the back up paper could have been the original. Some may get a better result. At the end of the day its only paper 2, we already paper 1 in the bag! So don't worry, do as you would have. Whatever happens, happens!! Half of one exam is hardly going to map out your life!

I mean for ****'s sake, why is it when someone gets "information" they can't pass it round quietly. There's PM buttons, there's texting. But no, let's get it all out there, really show the SEC, get them to mix things up a bit. For ****'s sake.

Seems it was a school in Louth, when someone finds out which one let me know.

@ Person who was in the school-

Of course it matters, people studied based on predictions made. These predictions turned out to be correct by the looks of things and they would have a got a good grade. Then some school full of gob*****s decides to text the whole nation about the paper. I've never been this angry over something school related. Odds are poets like Mahon and Montague are on this spare paper :|

I second the commiting genocide in Drogheda.
