De Wimmin's Mini "Marathon"

AAAaaaaaghhh!! It's on today. Darn, now I have try and plan how I'm going to be able to get around. I look on their website and find this - "this Event is strictly for FEMALES ONLY - MALES ARE NOT ALLOWED" :mad:

So for years thems wimmins give out about male-only golf clubs, take them to the equality tribunals etc, etc - and yet sexist events like this are organised involving my area - with what consideration for the natives? I'm beginning to wonder what the difference is between this and contentious marches that take place in the north...

So should I:

A) Put on a dress and infiltrate

Organise a sit-down protest - open to all, not just for men

C) Atari Jaguar

And why's it called a mini "marathon" anyway? It's either a marathon which is 42.195 kilometres / 26 miles 385 yards, or else it's not a marathon - same as you can't just have a "mini pregnancy"... :pac:

PS The organisers should get a web designer who would at least be able to get their clock on the right date, http://www.florawomensminimarathon.ie/ ... Tsk, tsk, wimmen's :rolleyes:

There was one for men last Bank Holiday weekend, but apparently there was a disappointing turnout.

It's a pity they can't do the women's mini marathon now, have to admit the men provide a bit of craic on the day!

pftt..it's a 10k walk/run not a bloody marathon.
I did the NY marathon last year (my first) and I think calling 10Ks a mini-marathon is a joke.
If you'r going to do a marathon do a proper one.

And girls..while you're going for a short run pick me up 20 cigs and a 6 pack from the offie.

Does it really matter what it's called, we know we're not running a marathon. It's great motivation to keep fit throughout the year, and I'm so looking forward to this afternoon!

It's to commemorate Pheidippideia, who was sent to tell the Athenians about their victory at Marathon, but had to stop after six miles because she couldn't read the map and her feet hurt.

The legend of Pheidippides was honored by a 24.85 mile (40,000 meters) run from Marathon Bridge to Olympic stadium in Athens.

Some people wouldn't be able/fit enough to do a proper marathon- the 10 k might suit them better.

Its pretty frustrating when you train for months and struggle through 26.2 miles and somebody says they ran the marathon meaning a 10k. Then your the arsehole if you point out the difference:D.

Thinking about it who cares really, maybe it shouldnt matter, its just a pet peeve amongst runners and I imagine the vast majority of people could not give two ****es. You can see where the frustration comes from though.

Well, yeah, but the vast majority of people doing the ''marathon'' today wouldn't be even amateur runners- there just doing it for the craic, not to boast about doing a marathon (well, mostly!). :pac::)
