if so, how much did you pay for it and were you pleased with the results?

A freind got one done i no off no pics but he was very happy with the result. His nose was all over the place as he had injured himself pretty badly when younger they made it straight an got rid of a bump he had on it. Not sure on prices or anything of that nature but yeah he was happy with the results.

word of warning, I have assisted in a few of these procedures (im a nurse) and they are a lot more invasive then some people think! One patient for example, part of her rib was removed, then it was filed down and basically inserted into the nasal cavity to change the shape! This in itself was fairly awful. The surgeon then used a small hammer like instrument to fix it into place!:eek: While the rib was being removed her lung was punctured so this was an extra trauma for her post op. I know people get this procedure when they have medical reasons but just be wary of it if it is just for cosmetic reasons, its not as routine as some websites would advertise it to be

Oh come on - that is in no way representative of cosmetic rhinoplasty!

Maybe if you'd been in a car crash/fight/done so much cocaine your septum rotted away then a surgeon would have to harvest bone from elsewhere, but most cosmetic rhinoplasty involves breaking and resetting or shaving off bone.

Have you ever been in theatre assisting in a rhinoplasty??? well i have and that is exactly what happened when a lady came in for a cosmetic rhinoplasty!!! And i have seen it happen a few times as standard procedure for cosmetic rhinoplasty!

if you must know it was an endonasal rhinoplasty and she went for the surgery for cosmetic reasons!

anyway getting back to the purpose on my post to Hman09, the surgery is not always as routine as people think so be sure to do a lot of research before you make any decisions, best of luck whatever you decide to do!:)

would it be more straight forward if it was only your nostrils that bothered you? I'm perfectly happy with my nose in profile, but I would like my nostrils made smaller? Is this possible?

Be very careful about getting a nose job in Ireland, I don't think there are any ENT specialists. There are 3 great surgeons (am doing my research for myself too) in the UK, Bassim Matti, Julian Rowe Jones and Ian Mackay (expensive but worth it as the amount of people who get nose jobs that go wrong and then have to pay for a revision is enormous). Of course there are!Our health service is bad but not that bad!
If I was getting a nose job done then I would only go to an ENT surgeon who works in a public or private hospital.
I wouldnt touch advanced cosmetic surgery or any other of those places with a barge pole.

Saying all that I would never get a nose job. As mentioned earlier in this thread it is a very unecessary, invasive, dangerous procedure. You are breaking the bone of your nose, one of the only two instruments in your body you can breath through. I dont know about everyone else but breathing is pretty darn important in my life so I wouldnt want to do anything that would jepordise my ability to inhale oxygen.
Secondly, I like the way people have all different noses,big, small, hooked, button, crooked etc etc. Everyone who has rhinoplasty comes out with the same generic 'cute' nose which If we all had the world would be such a boring place.

I meant a very good specialist for rhinos, lots of Irish people have had rhinos done and then had to pay to have revisions, its a very important op and you should have the best possible surgeon (IMO).

If you ain't interested in nose jobs, why post. Am sure OP is not interested in whether you would have a nose job:rolleyes:

Yep, I have, got it done 2 years ago. Was very happy with the result! Got it done with ACS. Never liked my nose, there was always a bump on it, so finally decided to take the plunge. I did have to take 2 weeks off work, and even then my face was a tiny but swelled...you would need to give it a good 6 wks at least for it to go back to normal! I took Arnica tablets for the swelling which helped alot.

The actual procedure? Well, I'm not sure, as I was knocked out

It was my first time under general anaesthetic, and I was freakin out about if I woke up during the op

But of course that didn't happen! I think it took about an hour.

I stayed in hospital overnight, and went home next day...bear in mind, you will more than likely look like u were in a car crash!!

Had to go back for 3 monthly check-ups...best thing I've ever done

i had my nose done in nov 08 i had wat dey call roman nose, meaning from the side it had a bump. it cost me 4,700. my nose is perfectly straight now n i am extrem pleased with the results it was def worth it!!! will try get a pic up 4 u!!!

I had my nose broken in a fight years ago. I went to the GP he eventually got me on a waiting list to get a rhinoplastly. Didnt cost me a red cent, really pleased with, although all they did was put it back into its origninal shape.

Worst decision i ever made in my life was getting cosmetic surgery. They dont give **** about you. Ireland is leap years behind some of the ones in UK, France, US, and Australia.

anyone thinking of getting it done in Ireland dont!! ive had a horrible year and a half all because i was too hung up in my appearance. I rushed into my decision to get it done although i mite add i picked a reputable clinic that is here and in england!! my first operation was a disaster. what was ment to happen was the removal of the bump on the bridge and refinement of my large tip! what resulted was a narrow tip that was longer on one side then the other and alot of hard cartridge aroud the tip. I finally went back after realising how bad it was from looking at alot of pictures of myself. My mam came with me and i just cried the whole time, i could barely look at anyone. He asked me to go away and think about exactly what i wanted and come back in a month..this did not help me obviously. I returned a bit more composed this time and told him again exactly what was wrong and he agreed that he would preform a revision on the tip. altho there is an improvement since this in Dec 08 the last month it has started to change more and more and im back to my self conscious self. one side goes straight, other side turns toward the tip, the nostrils are different sizes and the worst is that one side has cartridge that is pushing up and is indented which has resulted in one side higher than the other. I went back to my surgeon who says oh well everyones nostrils is different, no ones nose is the same on both sides.. im distraught. The reason im posting my long story is a warning to everyone out there thinking of getting this procedure done. Its not something that should be taken lightly and if you can please just be happy with what you have and think about what would happen if it went wrong like my case. If i had done my through research besides the doctors, clinics (like these sites) i dont think i would of gone ahead with it all, i would of got rid of the bump maybe but left my long straight big tip alone!

Hey guys, well i've done my research on over 100 different places and surgeons and I believe I have found my place. Its in prague of all places. Ill be getting it done in the next few months, ill let you know how it goes!

I got a price last year, just need to have the bump shaved and it was E4000. I just need to get the money from somewhere now and try save for it.... I am so nervous of getting it done though, i would much prefer to get it done in a normal hospital you know, can anyone recommend some good/reputable places???? In ireland, I dont think my nerves would hold up in a foreign hospital!

Hi - just got back from Prague and I was shocked to see alot of men and women in the airport with their bandages over their noses after having nose jobs, alot of men as well.

It seems to be the place to go so, good luck and hope it works out for you.

To the "nurse" who assisted in a rhinoplasty and stood by and let the surgeon open the patients chest !!! wtf!? You and the surgeon should both be struck off, are you nuts? :eek: Did you not know the difference between a nose and a chest??

As for the ENT coments, FYI, ENT Docs cannot cosmetically fix a nose. You will need a cosmetic surgeon for this.

The only thing i specified with my surgeon was that he did not touch the tip, I've watched too many makeover shows and they all came out with Michael Jackson fake nose tips.

To be honest I would go to someone in the US or UK. I think you would find someone who has specialised in this procedure for a longer time.
