According to authorities, a 58-year-old woman was shot in the chest during a bus holdup over the weekend. Police in the city of Salvador say the bullet was slowed by a wad of cash the woman had hidden in her bra.

A police spokesman says the roll of money prevented the bullet from entering her heart and killing her instantly. The woman had surgery and was released from the hospital Monday.

A woman in the northern Bulgarian town of Ruse survived a car crash thanks to her silicone breasts, which acted as an airbag.

The 24-year-old ran through a red light and crashed her car into another vehicle at a busy crossroad in the middle of the town.
