Price for VW service?

Folks - was asked for E380 the other day for a service in a large well-known VW dealer for my 07 Golf. E200 for labour, E140 for various bits and pieces - wiper blades, oil, enviro charge etc + VAT.

Does this seem like robbery or is it the standard price to get that sought after dealer stamp?

Depends for the work done...... For a simple oil change (wipers you can do your self) it seems expensive.

Go to your local non branded garage expect to save some euros

Blackwater motors are do an all in price of 99euro's for a service, so yes your service sounds very expensive.

I would have thought that's standard for a Dublin main dealer and a little expensive for a non-Dublin main dealer.
Going non-franchise would be cheaper again.

Blackwater have dropped their prices!!! €690 they quoted me 6 months ago for a Timing belt for a 99 Passat TDi, and €225 for a service.

It depends on which service and if it's petrol or diesel - sheehy motors (Naas & Carlow) have a price list on their web site - http://www.sheehymotors.ie/contentv3/index.cfm?fuseaction=page&pageID=15605

As others have said non-franchised garages would be cheaper.

Can you get us a breakdown of what they intend to do for that. Whats their labour charge ph.

Did you not read that post at all? It quite clearly says €200 for labour and €140 for parts + VAT.

You see, this is the problem with the trade (sometimes anyway). he just asked to get a full breakdown - meaning a price per item and how many hours were spent on the car. The OP said "for bits and pieces" and E200 for labour.
Just because you are in the trade and understand fully where the costs come from, does not mean that Johnny Blogg does.
All he asked for was a more detailed bill from the OP and you come out with the staement above.

Anyway, that was a high bill IMO.

Price seems about norm for a service on a VW.

A couple of things have to be determined here before we go jumping down the throat of the dealership.

Which service was it?
Hope a longlife one at the price which means its filled with 5w40 (i think) and did it get plugs, fuel filter, pollen .......

How much were the wipers?
AFAIK they are dear enough genuine as there Aero blades

Most Garages especially VW ones have fixed pricing now for service work!

I have a 08 SEAT Cordoba 1.4TDiS.
9.8k on the clock but the onboard system is telling me it needs a service ( 15k or 1 year)
is it vital to get it done after a year ??

For a 1 year old car if you don't keep to the recommended service intervals you will invalidate your warrenty and resale values will suffer. Most people recommend an oil change every 12 months regardless of mileage.

A chap in work got his 05 Golf serviced recently and had to get the timing belt changed. It cost him, wait for it..........€1,400!!

It should be 20 minutes to change the oil and filters, 2 minutes for each wiper, 2 minutes for the washer fluid and €5 for water, what were the various of €15 for?

What is their labour charge per hour?
What else did they do, eg. brake check, suspension check?
3 litres of oil doesn't sound right!

I have one or two GT TSi golfs on fleet and according to a both a VW dealer and VW themselves, its thirty thousand.

Take a look at the audi long life service thread, it should be more or less the same as this case.

Your basic cheap as chips 1.4, and this was from a main dealer.
