Things I want..

Trotter

In our fair city we have many things... but here are some things I want that will make our city a better place. This thread may not last long, but I'll feel better clearing my head.

- Doctors that don't charge €55 because those days of screwage are over.

- Rugby matches in the RSC. I like rugby a lot. I like sitting down.. a lot..

- Local rugby teams to start tag rugby teams for the softer built folk like me.

- A return to the old standard of blaas. Superquinn just aren't cutting it.

- Drivers to stop trying to kill me when I signal to turn right on the newtown roundabout on my bike.

- A winebar with light nibbles on the Dunmore road

- Someone to bulldoze the silver thing, and the black thing, in JR Square.

- A load of little cafe bars in JR Square with outside seating and umbrellas with little partitions.

- Gardai to stop our resident thick heads from pishin on the said umbrellas.

- Sun in the sunny south east

- Minister Harney to take her greedy paws off St. Patrick's Hospital. Leave the seniors alone and in peace. They deserve that much.

- TDs who will email back the people who voted them in.

- Marks and Spencer to open outside of town, and inside of town once it doesn't feel like a walk through Bulgaria.

- The Waterford - Galway flight to be reinstated

- A Cream Egg.

That'll be all for now. :cool:

Think Muldoons is a disaster myself. What kind of shape does that place have? Muldoons/Oxygen needs money spent on it desperately.

Yes it is. Where are the bands on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in Ruby's Lounge coming from? Muldoon's. Which is now closed on Mondays and Tuesdays to force people into that s**t hole. Muldoon's may be crap too but it's a much better option for live music.

I'd agree with nearly every suggestion posted above. The only thing I would say is - relating to the alleged posers in Geoffs, wasn't the fact that Geoffs welcomed everyone from well dressed posers to not-so-bothered rockers and grungers what made it special? A kind of all embracing place.

Wasn't it the green areas around Hillview where a young boy was murdered in the 80s? Back when small children were encouraged to go out with no parental supervision.

Agreed, a HMV would be great. I hate buying DVDs and stuff in Waterford, you have to go check 2 or 3 small mediocre places instead of just having one good decent pit stop.

The quays to be made into a proper boardwalk - all those car parks closed, trees planted, coffee kiosks and benches installed.

That hideous blue crane (our industrial heritage!) on the quays to topple into the water.

AFAIKIts just for the bands that play in Rubys Lounge, as they are not having LIVE music in Rubys lounge anymore, but they are moving them to Oxygen.It willl take a lot of work to re-open Ten which wont be happening anytime soon.Electric Ave have some of the best Live Music going on around the town, hardly need another venue doing the same thing, do we.some posts above hit the nail on the head.Waterford needs to be supporting their venue's or they will be left with very few

I dunno what you guys think of this idea but my niece was telling me last night that there's now a big stage in Oxygen Night Club to support large bands (she was in at some teenage disco last night) I haven't been in there in a long time but I suppose that place could hold about 800 and has that area upstairs which also provides a good vantage point for whoever is on stage. Anyone know if they have plans to put in big bands in there?

Amen to that, especially the last bit. Waterford has an unfortunate reputation for being a place that does not support live music

I would like:

- Proper radiotherapy unit in WRH.

- WIT to finally be upgraded to university status because ti's deserved it for over five years now!

- (Relating to the two previous points) To not be ignored like some backwater town by the government and have some decent TDs to represent us.

- A new pub to open that isn't all flashy blue and purple lights! One that caters to people over the age of 21 who want to be able to go in and have a few drinks and be able to hear each other speak. One that bans all the pretentious gits that Ziedth mentioned!

- A reason for people to go into town! Any reason!

- New estates to be built with more green areas like I had growing up in Hillview. The kids from these new estates actively encouraged to go out and play soccer or whatever on the aforementioned greens.

- A music venue that would attract decent acts. Nothing world-beating but just decent acts. And for that venue to be supported by the people of Waterford!

- Something to lift the air of sadness that has crept over Waterford in the last 12 months or so. Just a bit of good news.

- For Spraoi to be good craic this year. Seeing as very few of us will be able to afford holidays this year, there is an opportunity to draw bigger crowds. And this could relate to the previous point too!
