You And Your Siblings - Where Are You With Them?

Just decided to put this together at the last minute. How would describe your relationship with your siblings? (brothers and sisters). Do you get along with them? Do they get along with you? Has your relationship improved with them over the years and/or are there many differences between yourselves. Be it lifestyle, music tastes, career, personality clashes. Anything and everything.

I'll start off. I have a brother and a sister. My brother and I are very different people and often clash on many issues. My sister is the youngest in our family and now has a family of her own. I would describe my relationship with my brother as being confrontational and tentative, but with a good understanding of each other and a mutual respect. With my sister it is much different. We are more similar and as a result rarely clash on subjects.

My brother is still a bit of a d!ck but we are watching tv together now.

Am now an uncle for the third time so all is good so far. Definitely get on better with my sister than my brother.

married and had kid's

Now everyone bitches about each others
style of parenting,their home's (messy v tidy)
how much weight was kept on after the babies
husband's,basically everything.

Honestly it's exhausting,

The fridge magnet in the shops that

is so not the case for me.

It's quite heartening to see how many people don't get on with their siblings, I'm fed up of people acting like I'm a freak cos I don't get on with mine ...

3 older brothers. I have my favourites but I'd feel bad if I listed them. We all get on well though.

I've one sibling, a younger brother. We got on fine as kids, then went through a funny patch in the teens. Now that we're allegedly mature adults we get on grand. We don't live in each others' pockets but are there if we need each other. I think that's the best way - it suits our personalities.

I'm the youngest of 8 - the oldest (my brother) is 25 years older than me (44 in a few months) and the youngest (my sister) is 14 years older than me.

I have two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law. The last sibling moved out when I was about 9, so despite the fact that I love them all, I'm not too close to any of them. My oldest sister is almost a second mom to me, and my youngest sister is a huge role model of mine.

I'm incredibly different from them all, but I guess I see bits of myself in all of them: or bits of them in me, I guess. When I was growing up, I spent a lot of time with my second youngest sister, and in a lot of way we're very very similar.

I have 14 nieces and nephews under the age of 8 and three quarters. They're all beautiful kids, which I know through frequent babysitting.

I mostly talk to my brothers and sisters when I'm minding their kids, which mean I really should put more effort into our relationships...

It's weird to think that I'm closer in age to my five oldest nieces/nephews than I am to any of my family; my oldest niece is like the little sister I never had!

I only have sisters. Get on well with all really. There's the odd blow up but not unlike most families I'd imagine!!! I have friends who have constant serious trouble with siblings so I count myself lucky!

two older brothers.. they get on fairly well, similar interests would see eachother regularly. im the youngest and the only girl so wouldnt be as close but that said could go to them if i was stuck for anything, always have a laugh if we meet up on occasion for drinks and whatever..
were all pretty close as kids, then they moved out and in my teens i was fairly distant from em, and now we are becoming closer again as we've all grown up and copped on

I'm the oldest of 4. I'm 26 they rest are 17, 7 and 4. I was brought up by my grandparents, i don't really get to see my siblings very often so were not close at all which is a shame.

I've got 2 brothers, one either side of me. Both quite protective what with me being the only girl, especially my older brother. We get on well though, we're all quite close in age, only 4 years between my eldest brother and my younger brother with me between them, so I suppose that helps.
We used to fight like crazy but things have definitely mellowed as we've gotten older.

The sister is another case. She's the stereotypical spoiled brat. Despite whatever she gets gifted she's really disrespectful to the entire family, especially my parents, and this drives me mad. Have moments when I want to kill her. I'm hoping she'll grow out of it (13/14 at the moment)

I'm the youngest of five, the only girl and I absolutely adore all my brothers. We see each other about four times a week, socialize together often, and eat together at least twice a week.

Anytime anyone of them needs a kidney, they need only ask.

I have 2 older sisters who are 29 & 30.

We get one really well. 29 yo sister lives close by with her husband and 2 kids & we work together so we talk alot. 30yo sister lives up north with hubby and kid and another on the way and she rings me everyday in work for a chitty chat.

We all get on very very well!

most of the time! It's rather difficult having 4 females all in the one house at the same time!

Ich bin ein einzelkind.

I was brought up by my cousins after my mother died when I was seven, so they are like brothers and sisters to me.

I only keep in regular contact with three of them though.

I have 2 brothers and 2 sisters and we are all very close but I do find that sometimes it becomes 'sticky' love, we feel we have the right to say and do whatever we want with each other. I would not speak to my friends the way I speak to some members of my family...

Have 3 older brothers. Dont live too far from any of them but dont see them a whole lot.

Get on well with 2, the other not so good but working on fixing that!

Two brothers (33 and 32) who live in Navan, one sister (30) who lives on the other side of the city and I'm 17, odd set up really.....

My oldest brother and I don't talk much, mainly cos he's a bit of a prick.

My other brother's always ringing me up just to ask how school's going and all that stuff, he's always inviting me to stay down with himself and his wife, we get on well.

My sister and I have a really weird relationship. She gives off the impression most of the time that she's not listening or has no interest spending time with me, yet we talk about pretty much everything and when shít hits the fan we always gel together. She grew up acting as my second mother but about now she's started acting more as a big sister.

I have only one sister.. We used to fight like cat and dog when we lived together.. I used to swear I wouldn't have anything to do with her when we grew up.. But once we moved out of home and got our own lives we started to actually get on really well.. We're like mates now.. That's not to say we wouldn't have holy war if we were put back under the same roof...

I've three brothers, the oldest has his own family so I see him once a week usually and we get on well enough

Second bro is living the high life in Australia, got on the best with him throughout the years so hope he decides to visit home soon! And the last, the youngest in the family is grand at times, when he's in good humour. 80% of the time conversations with him involve him saying little more than 'hmm' and 'whatever'. Frustrating! He will also bend over backwards for any friend/acquaintance but rarely does favours for anyone in the family. He's 19 so hopefully he'll grow out of it soon.

My eldest sister is 42 she is a soft, sensitive caring person.. I would talk to her every two to three days.

My brother is 40 he is a very funny witty guy, I would say I am his favourite sister, I talk to him once or twice a week.

My next sister is 37, She is the golden child in the family. I would be very close to her, we talk every day, we have similar personalitys, love a good bitching session and would be very critical of other people.

I am the youngest and was a "surprise" there is 8 years between myself and the golden child. My family is quite close. Which is important....
