Well first of all no money was wasted, a bebo account is free

An Post like any business runs competitions and promotions to increase interest, free christmas cards, credit and vouchers are what they have to give away

Writing letters and sending post has diminished VASTLY over previous years, effectively the internet is killing the post trade, thus they have to appeal to the younger generations in a different manner, i dont think anyone would argue that bebo is the right medium for catching the kids eyes these days and free stuff will bring them flocking.

i never send christmas cards but now that i have mine (and i agree they look great) im totally sending them out to friends, i'll probably have to buy stamps to do so, which brings me into the post office

Elaborate maybe, but i think they've thought this all out rather well

Fair enough - I presume An Post have managed to hire someone who updates and monitors the page for free as well;). Personally I really don't care so long as my freebie cards arrive:)

I would imagine there's enough people in administration working at computers in An Post they would be able to handle a bebo page

Plus who does the An Post Website and related stuff for postbank and the likes, there's gotta be an IT head in there somewhere

Bebo make companies like An Post pay for a commerical profile such as this. They design the skin and tout it to other users, etc. It's becoming a pretty common marketing technique, Pat the Baker just did it.

To be fair though, my cards arrived the day after I registered - that's good service! Nice cards as well, they don't look like freebies! Hats off to An Post (never thought I'd say that).

Guinness calendar and voucher arrived x 2 today, nice glossy 2009 calendar

Looks like they'll be doing a lot of stuff in the coming year as it's the 250th anniversary of Guinness and the St James's Gate Brewery. They're saying 24th September is "Arthur Guinness Day" when the main events will be on.

The June photo of Paul O'Connell taking the line-out against England in Croke Park, with the stadium and scoreboard in background is awesome!
