Is anybody getting tired of the Ray D'arcy show. well not so much the show but rather him and his moral highground. If i'm looking for an opinionated gobs**te, there are plenty of other shows. His show used to be just about havin a laugh and not takin things too seriously but in the last year or so he cant seem to talk about anything without giving a big opinionated spiel about whats right, (coz if its his opinion, then obviously it has to be right). Bring back the old days when he used to brighten up our mornings.

There is no reason to discuss the presenters personal life here. This thread is to do with the Radio Show itself and not the private life of Ray D'Arcy. Anyone found to be dragging threads off topic will incur at least a ban for 24 hours

was listening in work and the whole place was just laughing at him, at his inability to interview, he constantly interupts and If he doesn't like what he is hearing he just talks all over the interviewee..pathetic really, at one point he said something to the effect - I read it somewhere so it MUST be true...wtf?"!!!(even if it was on the back of a Tayto packet..it must be true then Ray?)
when the whole Ross/Brand saga was brewing Ray was so smug about it, saying how much they were wrong and this was always going to happen with Brand and read loads of texts out backing his opinion up - steming from the fact that Brand called Ray a copy cat for stealing ideas from his BBC Radio show and when Ray called the Russell Brand show live on air, Brand made him sound like twat.

I think his interviewing technique left a lot to be desired but Mary Harney contradicted herself, changed the subject and at one point said that the vaccine wouldn't prevent cancer. Not in 100% of cases no, but she refused to admit that it can save lives. Both of them needed to take a deep breath and listen to the other and respond to what was said rather than argue over each other

He may not have conducted himself right, he may not have done a good interview, but you must give it to him also for expressing the anger that is out there about the ill use of our money in the Health service, we don't get the opportunity to give it to the government at times and remember LADS, it might be one of your daughters or your wife in the future that might get this, and what would you think of her and the decision she made then.

Yesterday he took and add break at 10.45. Came back played a **** song. Took another add break straight away. Came back on for 30 secs and read a few texts. Then took ANOTHER add break. Comes back on and goes to the 11.00 news.

Not thats what I call lazy radio. The amount of add breaks on his show is madness

Oh great - they just put a synopsis of the MH and RD interview in the daily mail today... bet Ray will cut that out and give it to his mammy. He was back on this morning comparing baked beans so its good to see he took my advice to get back to the mundane stuff that he does best - god bless him and his muppets!

Well it is commercial radio and he does attract a large volume of listeners from a very lucrative demographic group so what do you expect station managers to do? Gross... sorry for that imagery I just don't get why these people need to text this type of stuff in and feel so sorry for the women who have to listen to Ray read it out. I bet poor auld Mary didn't get any of those texts though!

Spot on! I was listening to Harney throw out PLENTY of rope that Ray could have (and Matt Cooper would have) used to hang her.

But he was too busy "not listening" to pull it off, and I actually ended up feeling slightly sorry for Ms Harney, believe it or not! He made her sound almost reasonable, despite the fact that she was talking rubbish.

The "they're not mutually exclusive" line that he repeated ad-nauseum was annoying; what Harney was trying to say was "BECAUSE OF THE BUDGET CUTBACKS, we can only afford to do one, but not both, and since the vaccine doesn't catch everything, we made a choice; a valid one considering that from the time we [the Govt] were proposing to girls being sexually active (which apparently triggers this), we have a 4-year window".

She also went on to say that "it doesn't prevent deaths", which (word-for-word) is true; but Ray didn't hammer her on it does prevent SOME deaths.

He also didn't emphasise that putting this off would be short-sighted and would cost more further down the line, which will be perfect for Ms Harney and FF because it's the next Govt that will have to work out where to get the cash.....

Dire interview that damaged the campaign, if you ask me.

What drives me demented about Ray Darcy is his "Cynicism", more like f*cking ignorance & closemindedness. Once anything comes on the air about spiritual/religious or anything paranormal he morphs into this Cynic - it is really bloody annoying, because he then turns closeminded & very condescending.
I suppose the part that is annoying to me - just because he isn't a subscriber of whatever topic is; it doesn't mean that he has to be so smug etc etc about it.

ok my rant over. And I also agree with general gist of opinions, the show has gone downhill in the last year or two. I wonder is that them or me that has gone staid

Was the show ever uphill!!! I know I must sound odd because I do know a lot about the show despite the fact that it bugs me but that's because the last thing I listen to in the evening is the "last word" so the radio is automatically tuned into TodayFm in the morning so I tend to listen until I can take no more and switch to something else.

I mean that twat with him - oh god what's his name, the guy with the glasses from Youghal.... anyway him. He's a total nimwit and don't get me started on Mairead... do you know who she reminds me off... you know the kinda girl that you come across at parties that has to be the one singing all the songs or little miss billy bleedin' barry! She just fancies herself so much. The only one I don't mind is his missus and that's because the others are just bugging me so much... I mean if I started to focus in on her accent and the fact that she co-habits with dwarf boy well enough said really.

Ray Darcy would want to stop letting the women run the show. Used to be a big fan of his, but he has gone to ****. Turned in to a stuck up dickhead along with the rest of the girls on the show.

He's run his distance with Today FM,. He should **** right off now, and retire.

Shocking interview with Harney yesterday, and he was licking Michael O' Learys balls for half an hour this morning.

Has anyone pointed this thread out to him? Whats the email address for the show and we'll forward it on to him.

Tony Fenton is the best host on Today FM these days, and Pam should be given her own show. Quality listening!

I started this thread in April of 2007 after shouting at the radio for about ten minutes and realising I still hadn't vented all my anger over D'arcy. I figured it might get a couple of hundred views and a few replies.

And I figured there would probably be a lot of people bombarding me with abuse for being so negative toward him.

Needless to say I cant believe there are so many people who feel the same wayand cant believe its still going. It just shows peoples never ending need to rant... and then rant some more. Its great!

Anyway I've put a poll on the thread following a few suggestions so have your say.

I wonder does D'arcy know of this thread? If not should he be told? I mean a bit of constructive criticism never went astray! :rolleyes:

Tony Fenton is a classy 'aul fecker, and he knows whats good and whats not. Even though he's sometimes obliged to play some chart ****e every day (Kings of Leon, Snow Patrol) either he or Pam comes on to diss it in one way or another.

And he played all 6.5 minutes of Like a Rolling Stone last week.

The best radio show on the radio is Classic Gold Sunday on Today FM. 1-4 on a Sunday, stay in bed. It's legendary. Pumping out tune after tune! Jim O'Neill!

Yeah they definitely know...but I think I recall someone saying on this forum someplace that D'arcy made a point of making it known that he never reads negative stuff on the web about himself...yah right.
