Unreal caller to my door

ROCKMAN

Right at 5.30 this evening , answered the door to find a nice elderly woman doing market research (nothing strange about that,)
The research was for a major cigarette company (bit weird )
I take part and answer a few pages of questions etc and at the end I'm handed 40 CIGARETTES (:eek: now is it me or it that weird .)

A major cigarette company going door to door given out free fags , ASH will spontaneously combust.

She's coming back in a few days to see how I got on.
And I am ask to follow the following instructions (word for word from leaflet )

# Please smoke all of the cigarettes yourself without offering them to others, as we are interested in your opinion only.

# Please do not smoke any other cigarettes until these are finished .

# Please keep empty packs until I return.

# Please try to smoke all of the cigarettes.

This is for real cannot find the link anywhere but its coming from USA.

Cig companies are been hit hard because old/dead smokers are not been replaced by new younger smokers because of the negative publicity cigs get(wow no stuff sherlock)

anywho the cigs companies are now trying to convert current smokers to their brand by this method. the actual method I read about was targeting clubbers and pubs where its easy to identify the smokers and they get two free packs but not the Q and A session.

The whole idea is that somkers stay with their brand for quaility first then price so they are out to try and prove theirs is betters. Most smoker will not buy a differnet brand for fear of not liking it and wasting the money so a few free pack gives them the obvious free trial.

They used to run trials in the metropol in cork. I went to one at one stage, you go in two nights (a week apart) and drink 5 pints. After each pint you fill out some questions. After the first pint it was 5 or 6 pages, then 1 or 2 pages after each of the others. I think I got 20 pounds for it (and a nice start on two nights out)

Was walkin past a hotel in the city centre recently and was in a bad mood due to a few things. Some old one approached me at the door with a clipboard obviously doing market research and i told her to get lost (politely). next thing i see is ones emerging with free packs of beer after havin taken part, sickener^^

Of course, nobody knocked on my door, my friend's mother works for a Market Research Company and often asks us to do the research for her.

Other freebies have included several nights on the beer, testing new products (one I remember is two nights, a week apart, testing some new lager, free taxi home too after 8 pints)

The first thing that comes to mind when i think about what the OP has said is, Satan. I mean it's one thing to turn up at someone's door at 5:30, but it's a completely different thing to give away Free Cigarettes. Sounds like The Devil is trying to tempt you, it's what he'd do

An other idea i had was maybe she's laced the Cigarettes with poison and is trying to kill you, why else would she insist that you smoke them all and not to give anyone else. Seems shifty, have you angered anyone lately?

A few years ago I was walking by the Holiday Inn on Pearse St and was asked if I'd like to test some new drink out later that evening. I was told to bring along 3 or 4 friends. I think it was some crap alco pops like Smirnoff Ice but it was on draft. You get 5 pints and after each pint you're filling out the same questions. AFAIK it was all men for this. We were then told to go to Wynn's hotel the following week. The same again - 5 pints and questionaires and were then handed €/£25 on the way out.
