Almost like waiting on 'the call'... kind of... I'm dreaming about it ffs! I need something to take my mind of this.... I've tried porn. Any other suggestions?

I haven't touched the stuff in over a decade and I came to my senses and gave it back after 3 puffs. Now i'm keeking myself, my medical is about a week away!!! I really can't believe one stupid drunken mistake may ruin my chances of joining the Police. I'm such an idiot, because if i don't get in it's my own stupid fault.

Over a thousand in the merit list....probably you are out of the running to be honest but you never know. Someone RC istarting in November with merit score of over 1000. Depends on background but I'm thinking you are RC background as non RC in 800s have had Dear John letter.

downboy wrote: » Friend of mine, non RC, merit number in the 500s just got a Dear John on Saturday. I was thinking the other day, if RCs on the last campaign are getting in with merit numbers of 800 and there are 220 places for them, that would mean in the top 440 of the merit list, there should be about 110 RCs. So 220 non RCs and 110 for RCs...gives 330 spaces filled so non RCs with a merit number up to around 330 should be grand. Also, some people will fail the medical or refuse the job but I don't know roughly how many that would be - and i suppose if all the places are allocated then if you are a non RC it's only useful to you if other non RCs fail the medical or turn down the job, and the same would go for RCs. Also, if for example there are 800 RCs in the merit list and 700 drop out for whatever reason, leaving only 100, does that mean that the police can only recruit 100 non RCs to make it 50:50, meaning they only get about half the number of new officers that they need from this campaign? Crazy - still, if that happened I guess C15 would start soon - bring it on! Hope my crazed ramblings make sense to some of you - i think i worked it out correctly. Does anyone know what percentage fail the medical/refuse the job?

I just didn't seem to be able to keep going for as long as the nurse wanted me to and the machine put me down as a poor result! Now I'm really worried that it's going to fail me even though I don't smoke and have never had any lung problems! Any advice greatly appreciated good and bad!! Thanks

I took anti-depressants for 3months a year ago, the doctor put on my form that it was an adjustment disorder. do any of you think that this will be a problem? He also put that all issues were now resolved and required no further treatment.
lolli-j wrote: » Hey, I am really worried about that as the first two times i didnt do it properly then after the third i had no more tries, does that mean it was ok or would the nurse have let me do more?
pablissimo wrote: » Hi I think they will tell you if you have any problems there and then, obviously drug test excluded. In my medical I had a fair idea I passed everything except for the hearing. It threw up a referral for hearing in one ear. I knew it was coming as a previous employer had detected it in their medical assessment. Then, an ENT consultant deduced it was a nerve/neural issue and something that won't get worse - this might be what the PSNI will accept, ie so I won't use it as an excuse to retire on grounds of ill health. My GP has now referred me to another ENT consultant in the interim, but I have also dug out the consultant's determination from before. I haven't had written confirmation yet but I know I better get my finger out and let them see my file. But generally, they will let you know there and then. You really should know yourself from how they conduct themselves.
OnFire wrote: » Well I think I did mine about 5 or 6 times and still couldn't get it and so the nurse just gave up and said she believed I was trying my best!!! GCBC did the nurse tell you you had reached the right level or can a poor result still mean a pass?
OnFire wrote: » Did you fail your medical or is a referral something different? I thought the medical requirements said that you would only fail the hearing test if it was in both ears?
goodcopbadcop wrote: » In my case Myself and the nurse could see that I was blowing into it well above the level needed, the computer graph shows this, but I kept stopping too soon or something and it kept saying I had failed, we had to go through entering my details about 10 times to get it and even then i dont think it went through right, but unless it was due to a machine error, cause i could have blown hot water bottle up
