Hey everyone im from Texas and i want to study in Ireland but I'm in need of some advise. I want study in cork or Limerick so I want to know which place would be better in terms of education, student population, nightlife etc.I'm gonna e paying about $30,000 for a yearlong program so i want get my monies worth. Thanks.

what will you be studying? that would influence the education side of things.

I've heard great things about the social life in UL - in fact I've only ever heard how great it is. From what I can see (in my own field anyway) the education is excellent.

Cork also has an excellent social scene, and I think a better location than Limerick. You've easy access to the airport and train to Dublin.

If you're from Texas you've probably been driving for the last 10 years so you can can hire a car here to get anywhere you want, while marvelling at how small the country is compared to TX

What sorts of activities are you hoping to pursue once here?

But I would say UCC even though UL has a great campus it's very far from the city and not having stereotypes here but cork is a bet safer than limerick
also UCC is right in the middle of the city

Well I'm interested in irish studies and I also hear that irish people are really friendly. I also don't want to study in one of those typical places like Spain just because everyone I know is going there plus I already speak spanish and i don't nees to learn.

It seems like Cork would suit you. Do you have any specific questions - about Cork or UCC? Check out UCC on Google earth and see how close to the city centre it is.

About how many students attend UCC? Is a the campus pretty big or on the smaller side? Does Cork City have a big population?

UCC has a population of about 17000!! The campus is pretty big, takes up the majority of the western side of the city! You should defo come to cork...way safer than limerick and better craic. Its a matter of opinion at the end of the day. You know all the requirements for SAT scores and GPA scores yeah?

Edit: Cork has a population of about 250,000.

Yeah i have to have at least a 3.0 GPA and i've got until the end of the semester to decide where i want go so i have some time. Oh yeah, i also want to know what the weather is like in cork?:)

and I'm just repeating french, and then ucc next year, but i've decided that if i win the lotto or inherit 17,000 from a dead relative im going to UCD to do french instead
