Next time you're on the Waterford-Dublin train just outside Waterford where the approach roads to the new bridge are being built, have a look out towards the bridge pylon. You get a real sense now of what the road and bridge will look like once they're complete. Amazing!

The Suir bridge will be massive by Irish standards and will dwarf the Boyne bridge. It's pylon is 93m high while Waterford's will be 120m high. Also, the road deck will be proportionally lower on the Suir bridge making it seem even higher. The main span on the Suir bridge will be 230m. Foyle bridge in Derry is 234m while the Boyne bridge is 170m

Apparantly it is due to start in 2009 as a PPP (Shadow Toll). From what I am hearing I believe ascon/Dragados who are building the Suir bridge will turn their attention to the Barrow once the Waterford City bypass is open.

I have seen it run on my three computers at home each with a different version of Internet Explorer. I can open it on multiple computers without a problem at my place of work without a problem - go figure

Three different versions of IE wouldn't be my idea of cross-browser testing. FWIW, I can tell you that it also works on Firefox, which I've just tried. That shows me that they've used Google maps, which is a very valid approach, and one that should normally work just fine on Safari, which is the browser that I use (and not something I usually regard as "my problem"). But somehow it has come out broken.

I don't think it should.

The Boyne Bridge on the M1 motorway has its own specific page related to the bridge itself.

The link given to the N25 page will suffice methinks...

I've linked it to the N25 page, the Waterford City page, the Boyne River Bridge page, as well as placed into the "Bridges in the Republic of Ireland" and "Cable-stayed Bridges" categories. That should do. Presumably more skilled people will edit and or expand it accordingly!

Since we're on the subject of wikipedia, there are now specific pages for the M7, M8 and M9 motorways. All the latest developments will be found on those pages and each page will feature a 'clear scheme layout' showing the way the exits have been laid out and where they lead.

Okay then, just in case there was any confusion regarding whether or not the road will be motorway.

According to the NRA's website the N25 PPP project has a motorway order attached to it. However, I have decided to e-mail the NRA to clarify this issue...

New diversion in place as of Saturday morning. The N9 is closed now just north of its junction with the N24, so as to allow the bridges for the new bypass and the new section of N9 to be built.

Dublin-bound traffic is being diverted onto the N24 out by the Ferry Bar and out onto a roundabout near Grannagh Castle, before looping back around to the right and down near the new Kilmacow road.

There's an electronic sign on the new Newrath roundabout that says that a new section of road will be open on Thursday, 23 October.

My guess is that the left-hand side (travelling in) of the new Sallypark/Newrath DC will be opened, with two-way traffic initially. It looks like they'll probably build the right-hand side of it then over the next few months.

Is that more or less correct? Anyone got any information?

They've also started to build the bridge deck on the Suir bridge itself. It's looking very impressive. Anyone got any pictures?

All their dates are a joke and a pipedream. Wonder will the M9 motorway take much traffic away from New ross (i.e. some Dublin bound traffic).

Unlikely I guess, really is an horrendous bottlekneck. But 1 billion for a bypass is completely OTT.

Just for the record... (I posted in the wrong thread earlier)

I went from B&Q to the bridge today. All that's needed is a cleanup, lining and fitting of the rest of the street lights. When you arrive at the bridge there is a lot of work to be done. Security said it will be 2-3 months and the bridge will be fully completed. Apparently they get a load of visitors!

The toll plaza has been erected also.

Some reports on the KK forum that the bridge is becoming known locally at least as the Catflap....I like it!:D
