I need to get this off my chest after a day of shít from CIE.

This morning I arrived at Greystones DART station at 10.20am to catch the 10.35 train to Malahide. When I got there I was told there weren't any trains running between Greystones and Bray and that I'd have to get a bus which was due at 10.35. I found this really annoying as I'd checked the timetables on their website for today and there was no mention of any delays and also because I was now certain to miss the train I had planned to catch by around 20 minutes and I wasn't sure when I'd next be able to get all the way to Malahide.

I then crossed the road and waited for the 10.35 bus. At 11.05 it still hadn't arrrived so I phoned my mum and asked her to drop me to Bray station. From there I'd have to get a train to Connolly and hope to find one to Malahide from there. Luckily there was a train straight to Malahide at about 11.40 and I was able to catch that.

Then this evening I caught the last train home from Malahide, which terminated at Bray and not Greystones as usual. We were told to board a bus outside Bray station that would take us to the Greystones one. The bus stopped and dropped some people off at the stop before the nearest one to my house. I then rang the bell and went to the front of the bus and the driver went straight past the stop. When I mentioned this he said "no more stops 'til Greystones station". I argued that he's just stopped and there was no reason he couldn't again and he yelled "Fine, I'll stop at the next one". The next stop was at the bottom of a hill and another 5-10 minutes from my house. As I alighted the bus I thanked the driver for being so helpful and got an earful for giving cheek.

I'll definitely be complaining about this. I realise the technical problem wasn't their fault but they knew the trains wouldn't be running from Greystones so they shouldn't have been listed on the net in today's schedule. The least they could do is mention on their site that they were cancelled. I also think they should have provided a bus from Greystones Station rather than leaving us in the lashing rain saying "Just hop on the 84 bus when [if] it comes".

This sums up all that is wrong with transport in Dublin and how far we are behind other European cities.

Don't get me started on this, the other day an old woman was about to get on a bus, there were a few people in front of her getting on so I asked her when the next 184 was coming and she told me, just as she was about to get on the driver closed the door, the poor woman was knocking on it (while the driver was stuck in traffic and had not moved from the stop) and he ignored her.

The ignorance of some people.

Very very far, I moved to Norway 2 years ago and the public transport over here is fantastic. If you wait for a bus and it does not arrive you can call a taxi to pick you up and it is subsidized by the bus company. They are all run by the same company from what i can gather. At least this is true where i live in Norway.

But in generally the buses always run pretty much on time within a few minutes at least.

Are Norwegians that dry that they don't abuse this system......just for the craic like?

I was balled out of by a european bus driver last year for not leaping up and waiting to pounce out the door the second the bus was stationary.
He was so mad he came out of his box and down the gangway after me.

The only word of his language that I spoke involved doing wrong things to your mothers nasty. Was I happy I made the effort to learn that one!
