Overheard in Changing Rooms

If Pighead were the fat kid he would grabbed Granny by her stinking blouse and whispered into her decrepit old ears "Pighead may be fat but you will be dead in no less no more than 7 years time, and the maggots shall feast on your decaying rotten corpse until they too become fat and their clothes can't fit them"

Its awful isnt it..I have a cousin, she is 11...a gorgoeus little thing, is seriously gonna be a stunner..she has put on a little bit of weight..and looks fab for it (she was always really slim)..I mean...she actually looks brillaint.

At her younger sister communion a couple of months ago her granny was going on and on and on about her "weight" and saying to my cousin how she was fat..felt like killing her..I mean come on!! Just coz your old doesnt mean you can say what you fricken want!!! She'll give the child a complex

I know there is an obesity issue these days with children but I remember in my day adults were warned against making comments about a childs size for fear of them developing an eating disorder. have we swung too far in the opposite direction?

Since low self esteem is a factor in many eating disorders, that granny should be shot.

The aim with a 10yr old should be to keep the weight steady until the growth catches up, not make them feel ugly.

I think it's fashionable to slag the overweight again, apparently they're super unhealthy fatties and worse than Hitler. :pac:

Listen Lady E grannies have a right to say whatever they want to youngsters. Grannys have lived through wars, recessions and numerous different establishments. Youngsters have lived through Britney, Barney and Ra Ra skirts. If Granny says the wee ones a chubbster then it's probably best to take the advice on its merits and do something about it. Respect your Elders Miss E..

I didn't see the child at all, they left before I did, but I do agree that it's a sensitive issue.

I know two little girls (won't say how they're related to me for identification purposes) they're the same age, just a few days apart, and one of them I can easily carry around town on my hip for an hour, the other one I can't even lift very far off the ground.

But I don't think public humiliation is ever a good way to go. Unless you're an adult and you've signed up for The Biggest Loser.

A lot of parents these days excercising and dieting their children, we'll see how it all turns out in a few years. How many beds are ther for eating disorders?

My granny was like that but she didn't mean it in a bad way, she would always praise me and my sister if we gained any weight, we were never fat by any means but when we were going though puberty and 'filling out' she would always comment on it saying how great it was.. My mother had to pull her aside one day cause my sister was getting a complex over it.. She meant well though God bless her.. :rolleyes:
