So I was in the late bar at home and chatting to this girl who I went to primary school with. She was telling me she broke up with her boyfriend last week.....yada yada yada usual ****e but it was the reason why that intrigued me.

As she put it she was lying there in here "glorius nakedness" (and no she is not a fat heap, fcuking hot little thing she is) after going to the hassle of getting a Brazilian when he tells her that "he wants to wait"...................

Seriously, the guy is 25 and a virgin. Chatting to the boys after and we got a good laugh out of it but this must be completely unusual, is it?

Meh! Not really that unusual. He might wanna wait for religious reasons. He might just be awkward around women and got really nervous.
Was this relationship meant to be short-term? If not, your friend sounds like a bitch if she dumps him just because he's a virgin.

By the sounds of it i'd say so. But even if he was planning to be with this girl long term, she can't be expected to stay with him if he's looking for marriage and she's not....

Honestly Jaytee I don't think I am that pr!ck of a guy you take me to be, in fact I would consider myself to be more open minded/sensitive than most of my mates, but in fairness 25 must be fairly out there??

Or is it just the circles or groups in which I move? 18/19 would be at the outer limit of ages when most of my mates would have got "at it". I'm 23 and the thought of not having been with someone at that age spooks me a bit to be honest.

@ square_igloo...don't think it was religous reasons because he txted her a few hours later to say he would go through with it.

Sorry if I touched a nerve here with people but I just found it to be highly out of the ordinary, maybe I was wrong.

Well if it was only a quick thing, then I understand her reasoning. If all she wants is sex, then he's not much use to her.:)

I don't mean it as a dig, but maybe you are trying to get a feeling for what people think of you as a 25 year old virgin.

It was just an instinctual reaction and my instincts are usually fairly dependable.

Either way, I dont see the problem with 25 year old virgins.

It's a fact that nearly every single person who lost their virginity wishes they had waited.

So fair play to the fella, pulling a hot bird who is even willing to get a Brazilian for him and fair play to him for not comprimising his principles!

She definitely wasn't for him because 1) If she was looking for a relationship and she broke up with him over sex then obviously she doesn't share the same values as him and wasn't that into him and 2) If it was just sex she was after then they definitely didn't share the same values!

It's probably not as unusual as we think, but no man is going to own up to it whereas women talking about being virgins isn't unusual.

I don't think its that unusual to be honest. If i'm not mistaken I think I remember reading somewhere that the average age is somewhere between 16 and 18 ?

A guy I drink who is 27/28 and he's never been with a woman. No big deal to him and even less of one to me. Leave him do what he wants, its his life. I'm sure theres much older than him out there as well.

I do think it was severely bitchy to dump the guy for that though ...

I would have great respect for the guy, as obviously he has great respect for women. Have you forgotten sex can lead to an unwanted pregnancy and STI's?
I have a friend who's hitting 30, and she finds the dating game gets harder and harder as she gets older (and she is a stunner) as it's difficult to meet a guy who doesn't already have a child.

Most of my friends are mid twenties to thirties and the majority don't have children. Maybe she's fierce picky?

Yes, I do know people with children, only one of them is single though.

It's common knowledge that those who don't lick the lid don't crave the yoghurty fruity goodness and therefore prey on the weak.

I got them alrite but I have a gf so no interest to be honest.

Seems in my drunken state last night my original post might have come across as though I went around telling everyone and breaking myself laughing about it, only chatted to 4 of the lads in the car on the way home. Never even asked the guys name or who he was because I didn't want to know.

If thats what the guy wanted to do out of respect or religious reasons then good for him but it was the text a few hours later he sent her saying that "yeah he wanted to go through with it" kinda blows that argument out of the water. I know the first time is tough for everyone but maybe at that age he had built it up to be something that put him under so much stress he couldn't face it when the moment came.

Anyway it seemed extremely odd last night, this morning not so much after having read this thread but still out of the ordinary for the majority of people I know. Btw thats what the thread was about, finding out if it was unusual or not.

Wouldn't be my first choice but you have to respect a guy with the strength of character to refuse the sex when tis offered on a plate from a hot bird.
