Can you vote while pissed....?

Planned to vote during work, but with off without the voting clip - oh, who am I kidding? I just couldn't be arsed looking for it and I it would have made me late for work, but anyway...

We're going for a few drinks after work. Now, I get pissed quickly and may leave early and could be back in time to get the slip, walk round to the local school and vote. But I'd still be hammered.

Can I vote? Can they stop you? Shoud I just not go round? Why am I worried?

Judging by the results of the general election last year, at least 42% of the electorate were either pi$$ed out of their brains or high as kites when they staggered in to vote.

That or they had horrific brain tumours the size of basketballs.

You should be able to vote in that state, at least for Fianna Fáil's sake

And then of course we'll all be held at gunpoint for the second one, which is the only reason we didn't reject it the second time around when the neutrality issue was cleared up and there was a significantly higher turnout... ****ing bastards, forcing us to vote Yes in the anonymous ballot... And Nice has destroyed Ireland, no doubt about it.

Of course you can vote drunk. What you can't do is set your voting slip on fire before you drop it into the ballot box, then start screaming anti democratic slogans while you destroy the school where the vote is taking place. It's a fine line.

That is such a great idea.

If you lived in Zimababwe, the returning officer would probably relieve you of the responsibility and burn the vote for you. I have to say that the "cool factor" isn't quite as high in the latter situation.

Apparently not.....

Went into the local polling station today, My sis went into the local county council about a month ago to register me and my 3 brothers to vote at home, I had been registered in Dublin for the last general election, along with my older brother, My younger brother and sister haven't voted before. Guy in the council told her that was fine, took the names and said he would have it sorted that week... She got her card the other day, None of the rest of us got anything in the post, but presumed we were on the register somewhere.... Went in this morning to vote before I went to work, No sign of my name anywhere, Even with my passport, I had no joy. I'm pretty fecking raging over this and as a yes voter I seriously hope that it passes, hopefully by a slim margin, But have my democratic rights not been infringed here ? Especially as I cannot get off work now to trek back up to Dublin Central to vote where I was registered for the last one, in the hopes that my name is still on that list ?

I have found by long experience that I do everything better when pissed. If you are the same then the authorities should assume you are at your most perceptive under the affluence (or whatever). Stand your ground (or lie on it if that fails):)
