Sorry if in wrong forum feel free to move.
:eek:This time of year for the last few years that we moved to our house in the country we are inundated with earwigs. I had to stop putting window boxes up because these f*****s are nocturnal and hide under them by day, yet they manage to get in all the way upstairs as well, on curtains, under furniture, on walls. Has anyone any idea how to prevent these dirty f*****s from getting into the house? They gather around the door and window frames so when we open them they flop to the ground the ones we see. This goes on ALL summer long. Advice really appreciated.:(

The best solution that I can think of would be to get a black bag, make an earwig suit with it, become their giant earwig leader, mate with their earwig birds (which will leave your ma to Aido Walsh up there) and convince them to find a new gaf to live in.

We used to have a mobile home in Brittas Bay in Wicklow.

I remember taking a biscuit out of the packet and putting it in my mouth. Something bites my tongue... I spit it out and it's an earwig.

If you don't have pets I'd suggest some Derris dust sprinkled around your doors and window cills. You could also try the old fashioned earwig traps, which were corrugated cardboard rolled into tight rolls and inserted into flower pots with some Derris in the bottoms. The earwigs hide in the corrugations and get poisoned. Also, if you have a garden, it might be that you have some plants that attract them -- I seem to recall that Asters, for example, drive them into a frenzy of mating. Not sure about anteaters:D

You can get Ant Killer powder from the gardening section at Tesco, it works for all crawling insects. Just sprinkle it outside all of your windows and doors, should do the job (I was inundated with woodlice in my last place).

KnifeWRENCH

You must learn the language of the earwigs, mate with their women and earn their trust. Then, when they least expect it, you must strike with all your fury and smite your insect brethren. They will not have been expecting an attack and so will be too shocked to fight back.

I recall a few years ago picking up the phone, only to have an earwig come out of the ear part! :eek: I was shocked and appalled!
