They work just fine. It's just most people are too emotionally retarded to seperate sex and love.

It's perfectly fine to have a friend, have sex with them and stay friends with them.

I've had that type of thing with a friend for anywhere up to 2 years or so and we still get on fine to this day.

I'm not saying the friends with benefits idea doesn't work, because it clearly does for some people. But I think it's a little simplistic to dismiss people as 'emotionally retarded' because they can't make it work. It could easily be argued that people who can so easily separate sex and love are 'emotionally retarded'.
However, this is After Hours and not Personal Issues so best not have a serious discussion

in collage and it was far away from home where i kept my regular girlfriend
became great friends with this girl and everyone even my girlfriend thought she was great craic,

then we sorta started shagging all the time but both had other stuff going on and didn't mind at all

we started thinking it should be more but that only lasted about 3 months because she loved the male chicken too much

it was great tho i highly recomend it even though it screwed me up for a while
