Problems with Realtek ALC 888 sound cards

I have bought a HP Slimline s7710.uk desktop recently. it's Vista preinstalled. As the system has only 1 gb memory it's dead slow. I planned of shifting to XP. but it doesn't have a Display driver for XP. so i have to stick with Vista. Now am buying another Memory to increase the performance. But am facing one more problem with my sound.

The sound card in my system is of Realtek ALC 888 chipset. but after installation it's always giving echo sound effect whenever I use any voip.The person hearing me is hearing his own sound in his speaker multiple times. And after a while it becomes very difficult for both persons to communicate. Is there any ways I can fix it. Or is there any PCI sound cards which i can use instead of Realtek. I have heard of Realtek multistreaming problems from many. But i do not know what it's.

Please help me..

How do you figure there's no display driver for XP?? Of course there is.

I tried searching from HP official site. It doesnt have a download driver for XP. It shows only for Vista. Do u know any location from where I can find XP driver.?

I'm sorry. but it's not saying which display card it's. "Integrated graphics"is the word they used in specification.

* Your video card is a Nvidia GeForce 6150 LE according to that page, visit www.nvidia.com to get xp drivers for it, not sure about sound issiue but i would recomend downloading Driver Sweeper (Google it), uninstalling realtek drivers then run driver sweeper in windows safe mode (Hit F8 at computer start) and choose realtek sound, then re download realtek latest drivers

Go into the Control Panel, and into Realteks Icon, and select it to "normal". You can set it to hall, echo, underwater, etc, if you want...

Thanks. I will check with my video. But sound is still a prob for me.. I tried may settings with Realtek. But the person talking to me is getting his sound back in his system. and I have no problem in hearing the sound.. It happens with all those who talks to me.. it's a kind of looping effect.

Is your mic push-a-button-to-talk, or is it voice activated? If the latter, their voice may be coming in, reaching your mic, and then replayed through the speakers again.

Hi mate not on boards.ie much but came across this searching the web, I'll presume you are using xp home/pro and are using the latest realtek drivers, doesn't matter which model.
Now you should have a Realtek HD Audio Manger icon in your tray, double click on it and when it pops up click on the tab Mixer, Now there are two levels the top level and the bottom level, look at the top level wave, sw synth etc, in the bottom right corner of this level are two arrows, click the next arrow twice till you come to Front pink in and Rear Pink in, under these two make sure the sound icon is muted, both should have a red x on them now. Also just a tip to make sure you are heard in even the loadest games. Next to these two mute options is two .. in a small square, click both and a box pops up, now tick Microphone boost and click ok on both. You can always turn your microphone volume down but in some games with choopers/gun fire etc it's very hard to be heard without clicking this option.
Now I just saw your using vista, I can't be arsed right now rebooting into my ultimate partion but it should be the same except with a nicer interface.

As the_syco says, this is usually what happens, move speakers away from microphone usually fixes the problem. You should also have your Microphone muted from outputting to YOUR speakers, I'll get an image of where to set this at home (Vista is fairly round about in how to do this).

Thanx Dears, for the solutions.I think my sound is almost set now.. But as I could not find any drivers for my Display am buying a ATI rodeon PCI display card for using with XP. Hope it would work with my system..
