i was flicking saturday, ended up watching a show about an american family that has 16 kids!! This woman has been popping out a kid nearly every year for 17 years!!! http://www.duggarfamily.com/ does anybody else think 16 kids is a bit excesive? i hate babies, but someday i do want a son/doughter to float by body down the ganges, but 16 of them!!!! did anybody else see it? i think is was discovery it was on

One of my mates comes from a family of about 12 - 14, all nutters.

Families that big are scary, you get into a fight with one of them and you've got an army to deal with..........as well as each of the family member's friends!! Oo-er!!

I am number eleven in a family of twelve kids (My folks were good catholics

) I remember in primary school the teacher doing a poll of how many were in our familys and I wasn't the highest by any means, although these days it's hard to see how you could support that many without being either very rich or heavily dependent on the state !

i think I saw a similar show avbout the same crowd a while back.. fr4om what I recall they both had worked very hard before having kids, had some pretty decent savings and despite having 16 kids, actually wanted 16 kids

I don't understand the controversy, the children are fed, housed and presumably loved.

I have no problem with people who have loads of kids. If you can handle the stress and the financial responsibility, more power to you.

What I do have a problem with is the "novelty name" thing. The Duggar Kids all have names that start with J (to the point where I'm pretty sure some of those names are just made-up words used just cause they start with J). Did none of them ever cop on to the face that sooner or later the postman is going to send a letter addressed to J. Duggar?

What was funniest was that they talked to a "Christian Doctor" who told them they could get pregnant on the pill and miscarry, they decided this was sinning so had loads and loads of babies! The End..... Christian Doctor sounds to me like witch doctor.. I can see him with a bone in his hair etc!

The fertility rate is 1.83 for Ireland, and the replacement rate is approx 2.1, so some of us are keeping our end up, as it were.

Does your postman send you letters? Any large family will more than likely have one or more person with the same first initial, look at how many sons are named after their fathers, that's far more likely to cause an issue. Its not like George Foreman, he named all his kids "George".

One or two people with the same initial, thats slightly inconvenient. Seventeen is just taking the piss. I'm from a large family myself and while its good to have company all the time one of the most important things about growing up fairly well adjusted in that kind of situation is being able to develop your own indivuality. Its hard enough to to without your parents actively trying to make you all the same. One of their kids is called "Jinger". Whats wrong with spelling it with a G?

As for George Foreman, any person who names all their children after themselves is an egotistical nutjob. Or just a nutjob.

what has human overpopulation got to do with the planet dieing?

and for that matter, what has human overpopulation got to do with us here in the west? this is a problem for the devloping world, we're pretty much sorted here.. there will be discomfort, but the death, the famine and the disease will occur mostly where we aren't.
