yes you can, you'll have to pay 25e for this to be done and if you've just started a contract with them you'll have to pay for the remaining months left in your 12 month contract

Edit: just read the link too, seems above board if you pay out the contract but I'm highly sensitive to people "unlocking" potentially stolen phones so they can be resold and while I recognise this isnt the case here I wouldnt like to see a lot of such requests.

Want to get one of these. O2 prepay looks like the way I'll go. Now I find Meteor PAYG suits me better. The O2 shop says the phone can be unlocked after I top up to the tune of €100, but I can't find this in print on the O2 site.

Can someone confirm having unlocked O2 BB5 Nokia prepay phones? Or maybe somebody knows where I can geet this in writing. Have a deep mistrust of the easy, "no problem" phrases of customer care, or mobile phone shop personel.

O2 WILL unlock it after you've spent €100 credit. Not sure where it's in writing, but I know for a fact that this is true. If you're unsure, maybe buy the phone AND 100 credit at the same time in the same shop, and have the staff unlock it for you there and then?

Yeah I'm between doing that or dragging it out and hoping somebody has hot news on possibillity, apart from networks, of BB5 unlocking appearing anytime soon..

Unlocking thread is no use with a Nokia BB5 phone which the 6233 is
The only way to do them is using a code from the networks

I'm no expert on phone unlocking but if it helps anyone I've found Vodafone quite obliging when it comes to unlocking codes. For example, I had a phone I hardly used and never topped up on Voda. Then about six or more months later I took a chance and I rang and asked for the unlocking code....and they said I could have it! Just needed to wait a few days for a text, and then ring them for it.
Almost forgot to add they asked me why I needed the code

I said so I could use the phone on another network!

(Too honest for my own good me!) I've done this twice with Voda. I hadn't topped up by the required amounts on either phone.

Couldn't agree more, Three are pretty strict when it comes to unlocking, I'd imagine it would be extremely difficult for someone who steels a Three phone to get it unlocked by them

@quazzy, if the worst comes to the worst, use www.vodacodes.co.uk They will get you the unlock code for any Vodafone UK handset EXCEPT nokia for £15stg or drop me the IMEI in email and I'll see can I get done for about Eur19.50
@Breadboard, try O2 for the subsidy password if you've spent more than Eur130 or thereabouts in credit topups. They would then give you the code free. Otherwise, I can do it on Sunday(s) but I would need the actual phone itself for a few minutes to directly bypass the lock.
