You would have laughed! We need to respect everyone's nationalities, cultures and beliefs and opinions - both coworkers and patients. Then we discussed "all" of the different cultures and beliefs... they seem to have omitted the Irish from their list of cultures to be discussed. I should have said "I'm fuucking offended that you don't have the Irish listed on your 8 page print out of cultures and nationalities!" See how "feel good" they'd have felt! HA!

And THEN we discussed 4 different personality types when it comes to problem solving. The rabbit who runs away from conflict, the chameleon who adapts to situations, the worker bee who just wants to get the work done and avoid conflict, and the pitbull who hits the issues head on - and how we all need to respect each others methods of conflict resolution. HA!

How's that for a feel Good Meeting? (glad I got paid to attend!)

I have another one next month regarding "The Morning After Pill".
That ought to be interesting to see how they twist that issue to be PC.
Every weekend there's at least 2 young teens coming to the Emergency room hoping to get a pregnancy test and get the Morning After Pill. But it is up to the doc on duty if they choose to distribute it. half do, half don't.

The really funny part of it is - the patients think they will have total confidentiality when they come to the emergency room to try to obtain it. but since insurance companies do not cover such visits and it is an expensive out-of-pocket expense, the nurses do call the teen's parents before proceeding!

So what's your view on this?

Its not right. The teens, if they got themselves into this position should be adult enough to handle it themselves. The Gov't should put more resources into this, as its a delicate issue.

I think it is a good thing that the parents are called. Keeps them alert as to what their kids are up to.
The kids could have gone to the free clinic if they really wanted confidentiality imo.

Anyway, sorry for getting serious! It was just on my mind
