I was in Penneys in the Blanchardstown Shopping Centre this evening and as I'm not a regular visitor to the store, I was amazed at the prices of the clothes (mens)

Combats 17 euro, T-shirts from 3 euro, Jackets 25 euro etc. Most of the stuff was under 20 euro and seemed to be decent quality.

Now I'm not a slave to fashion and don't care too much about labels...not alone there I presume?...so for fellas (didn't check out the ladies dept.) who want decent clothes for day to day wear, you can't beat Penneys?

I would be interested in opinions from the more fashion conscious out there.

Pennys is an absolute lifesaver. like Deise girl i get cute handbags for €4 and all my jamies. Got lovely suded clogs there in mullingar last year for € in the sale and theyre still going great as i wear them each day to work. cant gt the end of the flipping things> As an aside they have a lot on sale at the mo. Got a trence coat in ladies dept for €15 (originally €35) now you cant beat that for value!!!

Yeah pennys is great for all your basics - socks and tights and pajamas and t-shirts, though i have started to branch out to H&M for vests.

I buy pretty much all my jeans/casual wear from pennys. Its cheap, but the clothes are good quality...so hard to resist when you can literally buy 2 pairs of jeans, t-shirts and a fleece in Pennys for the price of a single pair of jeans elsewhere!

ye i discovered myself that penneys was a diamond in the dirt about a year ago....top quality stuff at great prices!! im always wearing there combats, and my mates are sayin "so where did you get your combats theyre really nice", i have a bit of fun:D..."in BT2, only €90!!"....they believe me straight away!! then when i tell them its penneys they are amazed..

I would buy my stuff in penneys but they just wont fit me! Their small is a medium compared to say Topman or RI. Im lost in some of the stuff!:rolleyes:

Oh god i love it so much. Bikinis, socks,underwear bra's etc and little tops, cardi's and then any accessories/shoes/flip-flops.

I've been away for a year and i miss it so much! You wont find as good a shop anywhere for cheap reasonable quality! You can go on a great shop with 50 euro and get loads of stuff and still come out with change for the bus home!

That's the reason why my boyfriend buys his pants there. Years of weightlifting have given him thighs and shoulders that really only Penney's seem to be able to clothe. The XL in most shops is too small.

Just what I was thinking €50 and you'd get lots of stuff

so refreshing when everywhere else is so expensive.

Now here’s my rant:

Penneys are brilliant and are getting better each year. I buy lots of stuff in there like underwear (love their cute little boxers), pj’s, slippers, candles, shoes, socks (my daughter loves the smelly socks i.e. the ones that smell like strawberries or chocolate), bags (love their bags), belts, jewellery, hair accessories etc. I got my son (he’s nearly 4) some underpants for €2.50 for six – so cute and they have cute little socks for him too. I have to admit a year or two ago I wasn’t too keen on the boy’s clothes but this year they seem to have a similar version to Next (which I just love the boy’s clothes for) but now you can get similar stuff in Penneys for one third or one quarter the price which is great. I also got work trousers for €6. During the summer got tank tops for myself for €3 each. Yesterday I got two gorgeous tops for my son for €3 each. It’s the one shop where I’m actually surprised when the girl tells me what I owe her. Often I’d be after picking up lots of stuff for myself, my daughter and my son and would be thinking that will be around €60ish and it would be only €30ish or something. Oh and nearly forgot we don’t have much household stuff in Waterford but in Kilkenny the household stuff are great too.

i dont think there is a woman in ireland that does not love love love penneys it is the bees knees, i went in there a while ago and got two trench coats, two shirts, socks and two bags for 55 euros. cant beat penneys.

They're great for holidays... I always go in a few days before I go away... Fill a basket with bikinis, sun creams, sandals, beach towels, stringy tops and cosmetics and I rarely pay over €80 for the lot... It's unreal..

Pennys all the way... And the great thing is the prices never seem to go up from one year to the next..

thats is so true. aaaaaaaaaaaaaa love love penneys, esp if your broke or saving you can still manage to dress yourself in a few outfits for under a tonne in there.

xzanti I know its the one place where not only do the prices never to up each year but seem to be getting cheaper!

Well I'm in Waterford and I've only ever been to the Waterford one, Kilkenny and one in Dublin. I prefer the Kilkenny one out of those three. They seem to have the stock layed out better and more of a selection. I hear that Cork is very good but havn't been there yet. Waterford's one is quite small and its a bit of a tight fit but its good nonetheless. On a busy day though its hard to get around especially if you have a buggy.

i think there is enough in penneys for everyone!! their turnover of stock is quite good actually. i was in waterford the other week (im from dublin) and i swear to god i couldnt find penneys, i could see everyone with the penneys bags but i couldnt find the shop, it was driving me demented!!!

Why didn't you just someone with a Penneys bag where it was ?!!

:rolleyes: If you're down here again its on Barronstrand Street which is where Boots is. If you know where the clock tower is on the Quay you stand with you're back to it and straight ahead of you is Barronstrand Street. If you walk up that street theres a good few alright shops there. Tylers (shoe shop), Boots, is on your right walking up towards Penneys which is on the first left hand corner.

because that would have been using my head of course and no i couldnt do that;) and am shocked to hear there is a boots, was goin mad also cos could only see toiletries in roches, honest to god in my head i was like how do they survive with no boots!!!:( i swear im not a loon!

Well if you're ever down again just post a thread beforehand on the Waterford Section with a list of some shops you'd want to go too and I'm sure myself or any of the lovely Waterfordians will help you

. We have a lot of what you Dublin folk have except its more compact down here. You probably just stayed in the City Square shopping centre but we have lots of other shops outside that. It would've been worth your while to go out to the Ardkeen area - you can get a bus on the Quay which runs very regularly. There is a really big Next out there, Homebase, Tesco, Lidl, KFC etc.

Oh and if you were looking for toy shops we don't really have any anymore in the city centre. All the toy shops are out by the Tramore Road area which is just a short drive. There is a decent size World of Wonder, Toymaster and Smyths along with Superquinn, Hickeys, Kelly & Dollard, Woodies etc. out that way.

off the topic of penneys we are now, but its fab anyway, love the one in blanch up here, if you ever came up, go to that one or the one in mary street. in fact they are all fab:D

I spend more in penneys than anywhere else!! So often I have been complemented on clothes or accesorries that I picked up for a few euro in penneys. Their underwear is as nice as la senza or anne summers and a quarter of the price. They are just brilliant for basics such as vest tops, seasonal pieces and on sunday I got the most beautiful jumper for 11 euro in the dundrum branch. I once got a acrf in penneys for 5 euro - I was in top shop later that week and was wearing my scarf- they had the exact same (i mean exact!) on sale for 15 euro. Must have been same supplier or something but I cannot understand anyone paying 10+ for a plain vest top in most chain stores when you can get the same in penneys for half that?

Pennys is a great store, but sometimes their clothes can be finished off poorly, esp. their pyjamas and other nightwear. Buttons can be loose and threads hanging off. They're still great though!

i agree, have bought few items, got home and found holes in them but nothing that cant be fixed in a jiff.
