Post count obession

What is with people on boards having pride in their post count? I see it regularly mentioned if someone starts a thread thats pointless, and someone will post 'post count + 1', etc. How can one be proud of being continously on boards.ie? I'm guessing the people who boast about their count very rarley make meaningful points, rather just posting anything to increase their count.

And before anyone starts, I dont give a monkies fcuk about my count, so dont accuse me of posting this thread to 'post count + 1'. I am just curious..

On a different matter, noticing that some of you have custom titles, how do you set them, I know on InvisionPB they can be set through the ACP and optionally members can be given the ability to edit their own (either from day 1 or after a certain number of posts).

Post counts are fun watching your posts rack up day after day and predicting that if you post a certain number of posts you will get 1000 posts in 6 months etc.

OP I totally agree. Most threads on here are full of people just replying with "LOL" or a Smily or somehting completely pointless, most likely to raise their PC, so they can get more respect from people they don't even know. Pretty sad really. You get to know the people who when repling post sensible advise or a valid interesting point, which 9 times out of 10 is more than just a few characters.

On other message boards they sometimes have a minimum size of about 2 lines to stop this, works quite well. I think we should have it on boards, but I can't see it ever happening. There are too many people who give themselves great pleasure in making crappy pointless replies.

I get a lot of people on my back because of post count.
Infact I can't help that I have interests in a lot of forums, not just one.
So Its quite easy for me to rack up a good few in a day.

I don't give a sh1te anymore what people say.
So what if my penis is bigger, someones got to love it at the end of the day.

But in seriousness. One day 300posts appeared to my name, so whatever happened, some thread must of moved or something.

Anyways hopefully it will help when I try to sell something on adverts.ie someday.

I racked up a good few I must admit, trying to keep users in the 24 forum. It's a hard job ya know. Not one ban yet.

Yeah I lament that some forums are getting quiet because it is out of season and the spammage that some posters are used to posting invariably gets them banned.I know because it happened to me.I will never do it again it was terrible:)

I post in lots of difference forums, and tend to browse boards in the morning before work, the lunch break during work, etc when I've nothing else to do (god forbid I might start working early eh?)....I'm just an innocent victim, honest

I'd guess it's something like any posts with less than 30 characters have been deleted so that's why spammers like yourself have lost nearly all your posts!
