The male naked body should never be seen on screen. True or false?

I bought Fast Times at Ridgemont High cos I heard that it was a cult classic. I wasn't that impressed. Anyway, after reading peoples comments on the imdb, one woman was very angry at the gratuitous female nudity in the movie and the fact that men never get their kit off in movies. I've always thought that this was because the naked female body is beautiful whereas the male naked body is droopy and hairy and dangly and is generally more functional than aesthetically pleasing. I'd like to know if there are many women out there who are fed up with not getting the chance to perv at naked men on screen as much as the male viewer gets to perv at naked women, or if, as has often been reported, they also find the male naked body unappealing to look at.

Bloke here but tbh I don't really believe in censorship of movies so if a director feels the need to show the naked male form in order to tell his/her story that's fine by me. As long as anything illegal is only being immitated (e.g. rape etc) I don't see the problem with showing anything in a movie.

Of course, you're right, the female body is a far more aesthetically pleasing thing than the male; most gay guys even agree with this (perhaps why they make such good fashion designers, they can look upon the female form as a beautiful thing without being distracted by sexual thoughts?).

And the loony complaining obviously doesn't watch a lot of movies: Ewan McGregor is famous for getting his kit off in films and video stores used to report a huge incidence in damaged copies of Lethal Weapon 2 from women freeze-framing the scene where Mel Gibson flashes his arse...

I once glimpsed a naked male body in a mirror once when I was stepping out of the shower.

It's not an experience I'd care to repeat.

Don't think Monica Beluci was actually raped for the purposes of the movie making process.

In films you never see male full frontal, it's always from behind. Quick ass flash etc. Maybe arty European films will show the works.

In women you get full frontal as well as behind, even in American films. T&A in most and the full monty in some (Eyes wide shut etc)

It's not true to say you *never* see male full frontal anywhere outside of European art films. As someone has stated Ewan McGregor has done full nude scenes. Also I seem to remember there being very brief full male nudity in A Room With A View. That's a Merchant Ivory production. Still only got a PG though.

My mates wife was moaning once about this. I was making the point that you never really see female genitals in films. Breasts are certainly not genitals, and you see plenty of topless men in films. Only some cultures/people would think exposure of breasts would be pornographic.

If women are full frontal they are usually showing no gentials, just pubic hair, they may as well be wearing furry knickers, you see nothing at all.
