Stationary in Dublin airport

I know that this isn't exactly the right forum for this topic but I don't know which other one to put it in!

In was in Dublin airport a couple of days ago and I was trying to buy some stationary (a biro and a writing pad) but no where sells them. Anyone got any idea why this is?

you could buy one of those crappy tourist pens, ones that light up and everything(!) but no writing pad anywhere! That just doesn't make sense!

He couldn't, it's the latest Ryanair initiative. All passengers must provide their own pen and paper to check in with or else a €100 office supplies surcharge will be levied on their fare.

Stationary = not moving.
Stationery = office supplies, etc.

How to remember?
'ar' for a 'car' (cars can be stationary) and 'er' for a 'letter' (you use stationery for a letter)

I was good but when I asked for the orange and bright red crayons she explained she'd used them up doing her make-up.

Actually, I've had difficulty finding notepads in shops on a few occasions. I know it's the moderin age of moderin e-whizz technology but sometimes, you can't beat good old biro and paper - shop stockers, take note.
