Just helped my bro put this together

AMD X2 4800+
2x1GB Crucial Ballistix Z503 - Micron -5B D
Lian-Li Pre-modded Case and Inventiv MachII GT
XFI-Fata1ty
3 x 74GB Raptors in Raid 0
1 x 500GB Sata II 16MB Cache NCQ
2 x EVGA 7800GTX 512MB in SLI
DFI-Lanparty UT SLI Expert

Have to say that compared to the many watercooled Rigs I have put together, this was a breeze. I thought the Phase setup would be more complex and a much harder build, I couldn't have been more wrong. 1 evening and we had her up and running -36C on the CPU, Windows installed and BF2 and FEAR up and running (at about 1000FPS lol).

So anyone who has been holding off on phase cooling for whatever reason.....It's actually a piece of piss.

200 euros extra for the FX-60 which is just an unlocked and cherry picked 4800+ anyways. So no, would never have bothered with that overpriced POS fullstop. I had an unlocked engineering Intel a while ago, and I found it gave next to feck all extra in terms of OC'ing than it's multi locked brothers. If you have the RAM to run the extreme FSB's then being multi unlocked really gives only a very slight, if any, assistance.

The RAM purchased can do 3-3-3-7 over and around the 300FSB mark, so we should be laughing. The setup has not been OC'd yet as it was only built there on Thurs and we've been out on the p1SS all weekend. Still need to flash the mobo to the latest bios and niggly stuff like that b4 we push the limits of the system.

Oh and the Lian-Li looks great with the Lian-Li kitted MachII underneath.

I wouldn't call the FX-60 a piece of **** just yet. The huge difference between it and an OC'd 4800 is the fact that the FX-60's stock voltage is only 1.4 volts - leaving massive headroom for overclocking and with yoru setup I imagine you could get some serious clocks from an FX-60.

no its not. the 1kw psu is not loud as it runs cool, because it is never running anywhere near 100% load and it is huge. fan isnt noisey either

It wouldn't matter at all what % load a PSU is running at.

It's only Current drawn / Efficiency. Whether its a 1k PSU pulling 300watts or a 300 watt PSU pulling 300watts. If they have the same efficiency they're making the same amount of heat and will need the same amount of cooling.

I've never heard of a quiet PCP&C though... They all use triblade Delta leafblowers from what I've heard/seen.

The Crucial ballistix ram is amazing mine is currently at 280mhz at (2.5-3-3-6) at only 2.9volts and it can go higher, but anandtech say that 280 is the best speed/timings you can get from the ballistix, Oh and it 8hours Prime stable:)
