"It's the little things".
Nala
"It's the little things that count", etc etc. Or so the saying goes. So what I want to know is, what little things make your day that bit brighter?
Some of mine:
-Deciding not to buy a magazine cos I've no money and then finding it left on the train five minutes later.
-Waking up to a cold winter's morning, preferably on a frosty, windy day. I do love the winter.
-Finding a fiver in an old coat pocket.
Let's hear em. :v:

- waking up realising you still have another couple of hours before you have to get up (i'd nearly even set my alarm clock in the middle of the night just to experience this the whole time)
- that feeling of elation when you finish your last exam; just knowing you have nothing to do, no obligations and you don't have to go studying. Usually only lasts for a couple of hours when you come out, but its a relief. (Roll on next Saturday!)
- when someone compliments you, especially on something you really take pride in yourself; or, on a similar note, when someone points out a good feature of yours.
- sharing something so hilarious with someone else that the two of you end up splitting your sides laughing, tears rolling down your cheeks and everyone else just staring at you thinking you're both weird.
- being inside in your baggiest hoody and a pair of tracksuit pants and feeling so warm and comfortable and hearing the rain pelting down outside.
- snuggling up to your other half on the couch watching a dvd, or just doing nothing but lying there with each other.
- a crisp, dry, frosty morning when you have gloves and a scarf and a long walk. Alternatively, a long, bright summer's evening when it's still warm enough to wear a t-shirt beyond 8/9pm and a long walk.
so many good feelings! cool thread

Sleepy
When your flatmates hang your laundry for you because the load has finished.
Waking up before your alarm goes on a weekday morning.
Cooking for a friend and having them enjoy it.
Surprising someone (often related to the last one).
A cold beer/hot after a hard day's work.
A child's laugh.
A smile from a random cute girl who's eye you catch walking down the street.
Something costing less than you expected.
Coming across a good quote, and I'll finish on one that's on-topic:
"For it is in the dew of simple things the heart finds it's morning and is refreshed" - Kahlil Gibran "The Prophet"

Lying in bed with a hot water bottle, even though it's not cold outside, esp when being off work the next day.
Having a 60 minute shower.
Listening to rain patter on the conservatory roof.
Hearing a great song you haven't heard for ages.
There's plenty more, but they just don't happen often enough.

- When the bus pulls up and all the seats are empty.
- When you get the nice, fresh, soft bread in your chiken fillet roll from Gerard's. (Instead of the ultra-hard bread)
- When your best mate
isn't
spending yet another night with his girlfriend, and calls you up to see what the craic is.
- When you come home in the evening and realise there's a good Champions League match on TV.
- When, during your day, you bump into that girl you fancy, and it leaves you buzzing for awhile, oblivioous to the day's little annoyances.
- When you wake up in the morning after having a really beautiful and/or romantic dream (no, not that kind), and it leaves you feeling warm all day long.

I was walking up Grafton Street over Xmas, when I looked at this girl, think she was eastern european, and she gave me this great smile, made my day, wanted to run after her and ask her out but I'm a coward, so didn't bother, made me really happy, wasn't expecting it.

When you wake up on a Sunday morning... Roll over and there's a very beutiful lady lying beside you and an empty pack of three on the floor

* When you put time and effort into something which might not be important to too many other people, but in the end it turns out well, and all you can do is smile and feel proud about yourself
* When you do everything you can to help someone else, and then it all turns out for the best.
* When you realise that the decisions you made were the right ones after all.

Waking up on a winters morning with your clock going off, when its really freezing cold and the rain is pounding against the windows and the sky is grey and miserable and you can hear the wind howling and your exhausted cause you barely got any sleep last night, and you struggle out of bed somehow moaning under your breathe because your cars getting work done on it so you'll have to get the bus into work, but then through your hazzy memory you remember being out in the pub last night and you think "thats weird I never go out on a thursday night" and it hits ye. It hits you like a big ****1ng ray of sunshine....its Saturday!!! And you look back at your big warm bed with your girlfriend lying there fast asleep and a big smile just breaks across your face and all your muscles just relax and all your troubles just fade away like your doped up to the eyeballs on heroin, and you stroll across the room back towards your bed and colapse into a happy peacefull stuper knowing you can stay in bed as long as you want, because its the weekend...

The little things =
Eggs. Eggs are so cool. They come in their own packaging, full of nutrition, tasty, no effort to cook, can do a million things with them. Scrambled eggs on toast...*drools* oh yellow mother, once again I suckle at your yolky teet.
Sitting in watching River Cottage when it's pouring rain outside.
Sitting at your window watching the world go by when it's pouring rain outside. You're all warm and dry, and everyone's rushing about getting soaked. For ultimate pleasure, have a cup of hot chocolate and a few slices of toast.
The smell of my horse's breath when he's eating hay.
Seeing my two dogs curled up beside each other.
Having dinner served up to you instead of having to make it.
Mashed potatoes, stuffing, chicken, gravy. Enough said.
A family game of Scrabble.
