How well do you know each other?

When you surf on boards.ie do you build up relationships with each other, do you get to know each other's little quirks etc, are do you just extract info, vent your frustrations for eg. How much people reading this have heard of me before and from where?

I know the people on the UCD forum pretty well and have met a good few of them in real life. Know a few other people on here really well since before they used boards also. After that most of the usernames on the places I mainly post are fairly familiar that and the avatars that people use.

Obviously while I'd recognise most of the regular names, I wouldn't know an awful lot about them.

Sandals for instance, recognise the name, and the sig, but don't know anything about him/her.

A few users spring to mind more so then others like...danniemcq, grasshoppa, sparky s (for that funny chinese factory worker writing home thread - dont ask), necromincon (from the film reviews thread) etc....

Don't know anyone well. Starting to recognise names from posts I suppose. Met one person I bought a phone off - really nice guy! But unless I was buying something off someone, I don't meet boards users.

I'm fairly new so I don't really know anyone!!

I find that a few people that have been on boards a long time seem to pick on the newer users! (Like they are so cool because they have billions of posts!:rolleyes: Get over it!) Those people I DEFINATLY wouldn't want to know!!!

On the other hand I have noticed that there are some really cool people that I'd love to get to know!

But as I said... don't really know anyone at this point!

I don't make any effort to contact people outside of the forums (be it real life or IM or whatever) but there's a fair few people at this stage who I've come to know through their posts.

So, in 'real life' -- very few.
In terms of forum posts -- recognise many users, but that's fairly one-sided; very few cases of consciously knowing 'each other'.

boards is full of great people, I have lived with a few of them..i have gotten drunk with loads of them and made friends with a good bunch of them.
Ive been around a few years now and there are new people popping up all the time, its getting too hard to get to "know" everyone. So I stick with who I know and keep a watchful eye on the rest
