Blowing your nose

I dunno if I'm just weird here but:

I don't do it. I find it very uncomfortable and my eyes water something awful any time I try. I'd find it more comfortable to tweeze nostril hair seriously. Anyone else like this or am I alone?

Also I find it absolutely disgusting when other people do it in public. Jeeze like just suck it back, the noise is much less and it all stays inside. The fact that among my friends it seems to be the women who most often blow their nose in public, I cannot fathom!? Personally I find it more unattractive than burping or farting loudly and cringe when people do it. Am I alone in this too?

No. Did you read what I said? A little kiss is fine wherever whenever. It's usually not polite to go wearing the face off your significant other while in other peoples company, not disgusting, just impolite. Never said it made me retch. That was someone else. Nothing makes me retch actually. I have an incontinant dog at home who I have to regularly clean up after. It disgusts me but it doesnt make me retch. The nose blowing makes me cringe. I cringe cos I wonder why would someone do something that makes them appear so unnattractive, like farting or burping loudly, picking their nose, scratching their privates. Its not considered a social faux-pas which I cannot understand. It's not so much the noise, more the idea of what the noise is doing and where it's coming from. Like PICKING THEIR NOSE, its the same as far as I'm concerned. I cringe similarly when I see somebody doing that. The worst is when someone blows their nose and then starts to pick it through the hanky right infront of you! In the middle of conversation!

My very point is you are being hypocritical about what you find disgusting. Some people find even small signs of affection in public disgusting and that is ridiculous much as with the blowing of somebodies nose.
Should people not do something because some people think it is out of taste?
Some people even have the idea that holding hands in public turns their stomach...do you have that feeling? doubt it.
So it comes to the fact that you just don't like it and personally find the blowing of ones nose disgusting, much like somebody could find a lot of things disgusting that you do not.

Now as for it being the idea, that is a little odd. It is not the thing, it is you thinking about what is going on that makes you disgusted.
Therefore you do not find the act disgusting persay,more the fact that you are thinking about it too much. If you just try to think about wht actually happens, all you see is a tissue, all you hear is a noise which doesn't bother you that much?

Mostly it tends to be friends, as they are people I'd be conversing with most often. A clear nose can be achieved otherwise in a not so off-putting manner.

Chill dude, let's keep this civil. The amound of phlegm you swallow even if you blow your nose is quite extensive anyway. This is how your lungs clean themselves. A little extra is fairly negligible. Stomach acid deals with it like. It's inside and it stays inside. I don't wipe my arse in public, why do you do this?

And how does blowing your nose compare to picking your nose?
Picking your nose you get snot on your fingers and then maybe eat a sandwich or lick your finger, blowing the crap into a tissue gets it out of your body, stops you sniffling and is relatively hygenic.

Well when you blow your nose, usually you would do so into a tissue. If you take a piss wherever you want ie..the floor of a pub, someone else will have to clean it up because after a while its gonna smell pretty bad.
Nobody i know just blows there nose and lets it land on the floor. So it seems pretty different to me

For starters it has to be done. It can be done in a mannerly way too.

If you suck it back the mucus builds up around your eardrums and hey presto next thing you know your at the doc forking out 50 sheets for an ear infection.

It's true. happened me. Doc took one look in me ears and told me to stop sucking it up (sounds bad that eh?). It's your body's way of getting rid of germs and waste etc .... and we're just putting it straight back ...
