Women Taking Men Out For Dinner.

Is it ok for women to take men out to dinner?

The reason im asking is, my girlfriend text me a while ago and said she wants to take me out to dinner and a few drinks, her treat.... It sounds nice, but it just feels weird. It's the men who are meant to take the women out.....

I took her out for dinner and drinks about two weeks ago on me, and I think she justs wants to pay back the favour....

I dunno, it just feels weird having my girlfriend taking me out for dinner..

Any thoughts?

i dont see what the problem is.

if someone wants to take me out, and im happy to spend that time with them, then thats cool.

what is it that makes you feel uncomfortable with it?
do you feel that women shouldnt do it for some reason, or do you feel the onus is on men to do the providing?

does it matter that is your girlfriend, or would you feel even more weird if it was just a friend who is a woman?

perhpas you feel that the situation is not totally in your control if you are doing the paying and all that?

It depends really. If you are both equally well off from an earnings pov then I reckon it's fine.
If you're earning 50times as much as her or woteva then no it's not alright.

I always feel odd when anybody buys me something (be it coffee, dinner or cinema tickets), but I get over it.

Thats a pretty old fashioned view.

It shouldn't be a problem if she wants to take you out. Me and the girlfriend pay for stuff equally.

enjoy her bring your out..enjoy the night..enjoy the meal...but dont ruin it by buying her a cheapo tacky rose on the way home! ...maybe bring her a bunch of flowers if you are thinking along that line.

no probs with my girlfriend bring me out for a meal..why not? if she wants to buy you an Xmas/bday present you would let her...so why not a meal?

Ah I feel bad about it too(in fact with people giving me anything....give not recieve person...that can't have things be given to....), dunno why even.don't have a problem with it though.

I don't see the problem. My boyfriend takes me out to dinner sometimes, sometimes I take him, sometimes we split the bill. *I* wouldn't feel comfortable with anything else.

When and where is she taking you? Is it really expensive or the kinda place you have taken her?
I don't see a problem with it, I have footed the bill for a couple of social events and my boyfriend returns the favour... No Biggy!

I'd have no issue with it. Tbh, with nearly every girlfriend I've had it's been 50/50 splits on dinners etc. You buy this one, I'll get the next one kind of thing. It's really not a big deal in my mind.

Splitting the bill is something I dont think Ive ever really done with a girl. I dunno it conjures up an image of someone with a calculator working out exactly how much they owe based on what they ate based. Just doesnt sit well with me. Ive no problem with being treated occaissionally though.

Well I remember my ex (gf at the tim) took me out to dinner, to celebrate my birhtday. Was actually quite nice, she deliberatly got my tipsy and took advantage.

Nothing wrong with it at all. Perhaps women take men out just so that the men know that the women just dont' want his money and that they genuinely care. That's always my reason.
