Mc Dowell qualifies for his first major since 2020
Then makes a good birdie.
I'll shut up !!
I dunno if it's just me but I haven't enjoyed this major whatsoever for some reason, not exactly sure why.
I find all the holes on this course a bit samey.
Squeaky bum time for Clark now.
I don't have much time for Clark, but this crowd are acting like assholes. No need for cheering missed putts. The New York crowd are notorious for it.
Haven't watched this as I thought it would be a procession. But Clark only 1 ahead now going down the last, after bogey on 17. Watching the World Cup, but if it goes to a play-off, I'll put it on.
yeah, I don't condone that kind of behaviour either, but let's be honest Wyndha Clark is an arrogant tosser, with a dodgy, volatile temperament, who is prone to tantrums , who is very hard to even like.
e.g. he's just missed his putt for par on the 17th, But straight away goes into aggressively tapping down the line on his next putt all the way to the hole, which is strictly against the rules of golf , but he's playing the ambiguity that there might be spike marks on his line, so he can effectively tap down a furrow for his ball to the hole for his next putt. That's strictly cheating in most people's book, but tools like this guy know how to play the margins in the interpretation of the rules of golf.
I really don't like this guy, but then who does!?
Fair play to Clark. Hung in there and did just enough.
Scottie tamping down the line of his putts in same way.
I'd say a lot of them are so psyched up during competition that they're not particularly nice guys. It's not a personality contest though...
Great final round. Clark was mostly terrible over the weekend but came up with some super shots when it mattered. Burns will be kicking himself after that putt on 17
If Neimann had parred the 6th on Thursday he'd have won by 2!
Clark produced big shots when it mattered most , his second shot on 16 on Saturday was one of the all time great shots.
Not a popular winner.
Seeing an ignorant American crowd boo an ignorant American golfer is where we are at the minute apparently.
exaggeration much. He played some very good shots when it mattered & I guess his shot on 16 was excellent considering the pressure but 'one of the all time great shots', not even close….
"If my grandmother had wheels, she'd be a Vespa"
Quote from Niemann after the above was mentioned apparently! He came across well with how he dealt with the aftermath of the penalty I think.
As a matter of interest, I had a look back at some previous years.
In 2018 - the US Open thread ran to 13 pages
In 2011 it reached 46 pages.
It's some reduction when you look at the numbers - 3 pages in 2026.
I just can’t warm to the US Open, my least favourite tournament of the year.
Thats because this website is dead now.
Not exactly comparing apples and apples is it though.
Rory won it in 2011. Look at any thread about a tournament where the Irish players are at the business end and there's a massive spike in posting.
Reality is that this year's open wasn't a particularly exciting one outside of a small window in the last round when Clark started to fall backwards.
Also the fact the World Cup is on so it tends to draw attention away from US Opens when they're on in parallel.
If the Ghana player wasn't offside, then it should have been a penalty. Offside was given, but I'm not sure.
Wow! I went back and looked for myself, he wasn't even close to being offside.
Penalty was before the offside
Thanks, I obviously posted in the wrong thread. 🤭
So did I evidently
I can't see England winning the US Open based on this performance.
I'm predicting a Tommy Fleetwood special
