Qualifying comps are the singles ones where your handicap can be adjusted (up or down). If you have moved clubs recently, your new club probably won't have access to your old records so in that case it's up to you to provide the evidence (golfnet printout?) that you qualify. General points.... the inter-club competitions are run by the province so some of the ones mentioned are just for Leinster... some of them end at the province stage while others have an all-ireland stage after the province. The tournament conditions linked to above will change (slightly) this year but they are a good guide. You can only play for one club in any one tournament... Last but not least, put yourself forward for selection (once you are eligible). Don't wait to be "asked" because that's not how it works. Team managers will be looking for people who want to & can play, especially this year where guys may have problems committing time (off work) to practice etc. There are plenty of these competitions and in general there will be at least one to suit every handicap... Inter-clubs are some of the best matchplay days you'll get as a regular joe golfer.

Have a question on Interclub so resurrected this thread. My club sent an email around regarding Interclub teams and it included the following:
I’m currently a 22.6 but hoping at some point to get some regular golf to get lower (aren’t we all!). I’m tempted to apply but have no Interclub experience having taken the game up in the last few years. In fact I’ve only played matchplay twice and lost both (only on the 18th in the BGS Ryder Jug last year to be fair 😆). I’m just outside the 22.5 limit, still worth applying? What’s typically involved - I’m guessing something like this cup wouldn’t have the same pressure as the low handicap ones? For those familiar with the Ryder Jug would it be a similar vibe (I believe it’s similar format 5 team fourball better ball matchplay)?
If you're eligible to play and fancy it, then put your name down. Its still just golf. Pressure (or not) will be the same insofar as the Best Cup might be the pinnacle for a 20 handicapper and the Junior Cup could be it for a 4 handicapper - it means as much to each guy in its own way.
Inter club is great and you meet some great people and make some friendships along the way. Its competitive as hell but honestly, more often than not, and certainly in the early rounds, the actual standard of golf is way worse than the handicap range for the event would suggest.
You should definitely go for it, inter club is great fun.
It'll be a different vibe to the Jug, a little bit more serious. It's competitive, but still in an enjoyable way.
What'll be involved is you register your interest, and then you will likely have to attend some practice rounds with the rest of the panel and the team captains. The captains will pair you up with someone, likely someone who has played in the competition before.
If your pairing makes it onto the final panel your team captains will decide whether you are playing at home or away.
Thanks for that. Threw my name in the hat anyway so will see if it comes out!
Anyone know what happened here in Pierce Purcell
Interesting to see given who is involved
Trump involved maybe…🤣
Probably clashed with the Junior Cup..😀
Does anybody know how tees are selected in interclub comps? Is it chosen by the home club or Golf Ireland? We have a game coming up soon and it is being played off the forward tees. I have also seen the same tees used in other matches in recent seasons. It seems strange to me that we wouldn't play off the tees that are most commonly used in club competitions.
I'm the two comps I've played in they've been picked by the home team. Usually teams have picked further back tees, but it was their choice.
I’ve played several matches for my home club and it’s always been forward tees both home and away. We play all our competitions off back tees too.

Housing clubs are expected to notify opponents of the tees to be used for match prior to practice rounds.
Seems a bit mad that your club wouldn't pick the tees you normally play off!!
in the previous round SP defeated shannon but were later found out to have used an illegal pairing. Shannon could not be reinstated as they didnt find this out until it was after the 48hr time limit had passed.
Oh you'd be furious!
I suppose these mistakes can happen, but they really should be careful about it.
