Any experience with the new Solis batteries?
Like what ???
I was at the Solar Ireland conference earlier today where the Minister Darragh O'Brien briefly mentioned a new seai grant for home battery installations is in the works.
I'd imagine we'll know more when the next budget is announced.
A question on pylontech batteries :
I currently have three pylontech 2.4kwh batteries and will be adding another three shortly.
Do I need different cables when adding this extra load, or will the standard cabling provided be enough?
It was very easy adding two a few years to the one I originally had.
The same question if I then increased to 8 batteries.
Thanks!
Dump the pylontechs, and simply add a 16kWh unit for only about €2k. Don't add further crap to existing crap.
You'll possibly pay that for a single 5kWh pylon
Yeah, fair enough. I've spotted some 16kWh pre builds for close to that price.
My issue is getting a large unit into the attic. The attic floor itself is fine. It's getting it up there and maneuvering it.
Would it be advisable to get 10kwh x 2 (for example).
The units are filled with two rows of eight cells.
Buy it unbuilt, and make it up, up there.
Or buy assembled and disassemble it.
But I wouldn't invest a single ha'penny in sh1te pouch cell based pylontechs units.
100% with Championc on that.
Personally for minimal effort, buying a prebuilt one, taking the cells out and then uplifting the case into the attic and moving the cells back in is a easy enough job that pretty much anyone can do with no special electrical skills beyond being a little careful. Probably 2-3 hrs work if you are going slow and steady. Less (like 45 mins) if you've done it a few times.
Ok, thanks folks.
This is one I had my eye on previously. It would be perfect for my install. The weight is the only negative but if I can get it up into the attic I'm laughing.
That's exactly what you want and need
Getting one up the attic will be a tough job. Is the attic converted, or will it be going up an access hatch?
I've just take delivery of 16 x 628Ah cells (32kWh). I'll have a 16kWh Seplos V3 available for sale soon, as I won't have the space or need to keep all 3 of my existing batteries in place.
If anyone is pulling the trigger on these deligreen batteries the code V3PN should give you 5% off. I asked them a question about pre-ordering the CATL versions and they sent it on to me saying it was $50 off but at checkout actually gave $80 so each battery cost approx €1330

Be careful, it's a presale. Could be a money grab / rug pull. Only ever pay with your card on these things and be prepared to have to wait 3-4 months before you have your money back in case it goes wrong.
Buying from nkon.nl would be a much safer option, but still only pay with card there
I've a 32kw from them, have it a few months now, very good comms on whatsapp from them and they ship via Poland, $3020 delivered, I ordered via Alibaba which has payment cover as standard. YEMV though.
Savage value. As unkel says best to put something like this on a credit card and clear it immediately just for the consumer protection it brings.
Yeah, I used the paypal option as well as card to make doubly sure.
Have you been in touch with them regarding a ship date ?
@TimHorton No, it said 30 day wait when I ordered so I figured I'd wait till closer to the time. Then they emailed me about 4 days after the order to say it was due to ship in early August and to let them know if I had any questions. I asked them a question about cables - there were none advertised with it - and they got back to me within a day to say that there weren't cables with that model but that they sell them if i needed. So their communication seems ok.
Price has been jacked up. Now €1400 incl. discount. Business is brisk I'd say.
It has gone off of general preorder (30+ days) to a specific eta (July 31), I'd guess that accounts for the increase in price.
I’d love to see what cells they actually ship with. I’ve seen mixed reports on cell quality. Some ordered grade A cells, but received cells with cosmetic issues and mis-matched voltages and manufacturer dates. Most buyers would never check the cells inside a pre-built battery, myself included, unless I was doing a review. They didn’t want me to do that.
The CATL cells probably come from 宁德时代商城 That is CATLs direct online selling platform which has recently been opened. Apparently it is the first time CATL sold directly to smaller companies. MOQ 600 314ah Cells I don't see any grading differentiation being offered by CATL on that site.
Hi folks....
Is anyone aware of a company who will add a battery to an existing installation (solis inverter, 17 panels).
The company I used solar share have gone out of business - I've rung a few places but no one willing to engage?
Would be much obliged for a steer
Had mine supplied and installed by one of the guys on adverts.ie
This guy does Leinster I believe
€2k for 16kWh and compatible with any Solis or Sofar hybrid (and others)

I'm in a bit of a conundrum. I have 10kw of battery installed ( 2 x 5kw Dyness DL5.0C). And want to get up to around 20kw.
Am I better off just taking out what I have and installing one of those 16kw systems above. The built in heating would be a big plus as they are in a steel shed.
Or the simpler option is to just buy 2 more Dyness and stick them on.
Thanks a million Champion I will check it out very grateful
You could just add the 16 in parallel to the 2 x 5 and have 26, or sell 1 x 5 to part subsidies the purchase of the 16
Interesting, I asked chat gpt and it said you couldn't mix them as they have different BMS?, but if that's not true, then just adding would be great.
26 would be a nice chunk. Especially if I get a heat pump installed I'll want the extra capacity.
It is interesting, I started a thread about an upgrade and was super surprised when the knowledgeable folk here explained that you could do that.
@graememk explained it in a straightforward way.
