Evening all,
Assuming people have watched today's ongoings and was curious to know whether there are folk interested in applying to Garda Reserve recruitment campaign in the coming week?
Good to know.
Think smart cas makes sense.
Thank you
Best of luck to everyone heading to Templemore this weekend.
We are getting closer guys.
Could be right!? But still a positive step forward.
...
Wise words as always
We all could be turning a significant corner after these tests
I don't want to get ahead of myself but what does this mean in terms of being selected to train and become an reserve AGS
I appreciate what little miss sunshine has said and that's a big positive just don't want to be getting any crazy ideas and then for it all to be in Vien
Hey, I don’t think it means anything, unfortunately.
A hair sample is more reliable for pre-entry as it can give a 90 day+ detection window of any substance. Someone could evade detection through a Urine sample by abstaining for a few days prior depending on the substance. C₁₇H₂₁NO₄ for example can be eliminated between 2-10 days depending on frequency of use. AGS policy for pre-entry is that urine samples are only used in exceptional circumstances. All full timers are required to give hair samples. This is just enforcing the same standard for reserves who if successful could be attested as Garda members.
The cost is not an issue. They have a large budget for the reserves.
I really wouldn't look past the stage your at, each person will have varied progress, some stages run in parallel, some sequential, with ultimately all stages needing to be successfully cleared
It can change. You will always have an introductory weekend Any further training is organised well in advance. The online training is self directed and happens alongside online check ins.with your instructor. For station training you must complete it when your unit is working or at events. As you are a volunteer and have other commitments, you can decide with your Sergeant. There are different physical assessments you complete, and MCQs. They give very good support.
Anyone have any feedback with how the tests went today?
It was good to see a mixture of people from all ages and backgrounds. hopefully a few get into a class
i had a good bit of hair removed i think lol .
what if you had no hair at all . blood test ?
They take it from arms/legs if not enough on your head.
Chest is the preferred second location and then legs depending on hair length for sample hair.
Apparently blood tests are not of the same standard or capture the same timeline..
Thankfully no issue with hair sample for test.
They seemed to have every angle and potential issue covered.
Anyone in Templemore today for the testing?
First time posting on this forum. Attended Templemore on Saturday for the drugs test. Great to see a good turn out.
Afte this substance medical test how much chance we have to be selected for the training
Welcome and thanks for your feedback.
Good turnout but not sure if they had 1 or 2 groups for testing on Saturday?
That's the 64 million dollar question! Certainly it's progress.
Hi all,
I have been called to do the drug test this weekend coming. Haven't done station interview as of yet.
i think a few people are the same . a lot of us had interview a year ago etc
Hello everyone, has anyone had any luck rescheduling the substance testing? I work shift and finish at 7am Saturday and im back in the same day at 7pm so a 3 hour round trip, I rang and was told the person who deals with appointments might ring me back and if it has to be Saturday so be it. I understand the I importance of this test but the lack of accommodation is a bit disheartening after all the hoops and time poured into this recruitment process. Does the invitation to this test mean we passed the vetting?
My understanding is that each stages runs concurrently to each other, so I don't think being called for SMT has any bearing on vetting, station interview etc
Folks, had my station interview this evening with Sergeant. I was very nervous but it was more of a chat about my current job and why I signed up etc.
That’s good . like any job interview always a little nervous at first. glad to see people still getting called up .
Still awaiting interview & drug test 🫣🫣
May have been put up in a previous post but I have not seen it and found it interesting. Question and Answer from March in the Oireachtas. As of March:
"Following the recruitment campaign in 2024, the first cohort of 19 successful candidates entered Templemore in 2025 and 17 of these attested in November 2025. A further class of Garda Reserves are currently in training and further intakes will commence training during 2026.
I have been informed by the Garda authorities that there are currently 228 Garda Reserve candidates within the vetting clearance process"

Wonder if any of the first batch tested weekend of 13/14th heard anything since?
Great question
Would be great to hear from someone from the first batch.
