Hi everyone. There seems to be agreement with Met Eireann and the UK Met office that heavy and persistent rain could cause flooding in parts of the country. There appears to be intermittent patchy outbreaks at times but also very heavy outbreaks as well. Keep up to date with Met Eireann for possible alerts especially if camping , any outdoor activities and also travel.

Just a quick update. Cork, Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow into Dublin looks to be the most at risk from flooding. With the feed coming from the southwest parts of Kerry might be included. All parts of the country will get rain as the shallow low runs to the west of Ireland with associated fronts.

Heavy persistent rain is showing to affect Clare, Kerry and Galway from midnight Wednesday to 7am Thursday becoming widespread for a time later. The next batch of heavy rain occurs nearly 12hrs later bringing the rest of the southern coastal counties and all up along the east coast into play. It will be interesting to see what the forecasts say tomorrow .

In Kerry the weather has been fairly dry now for the last 5 days , only bits of mist or the odd drop of rain out driving but nothing recorded here at my site and the previous 4 days before that only 7.4mm recorded so the coming days going to be a fair change. Id imagine after all the silage /hay was cut and slurry was put out in recent days then the rain will be welcome by the farmers and cereal growers.

Collection of long trailing fronts, hard to pinpoint and know for certain but certainly looks quite wet and heavy in places at times, might have a better idea tomorrow but this kind of pattern can be very hard to determine accurately. Models might be overdoing it or equally under reading it. Could be initially heavy in places overnight Weds into Thurs morning, patchy to follow perhaps with drizzle /light rain in places and possibly heavier rain again later Thurs and more rain to follow on Fri , bit far away to know for certain but could be heavy again in places during the day and maybe slow to clear in the N and E but will need to see further runs. Looks mild and humid overall and could be a tad uncomfortable overnight Thurs into Fri. Models in agreement that the SW could get the heaviest falls

Models have upgraded the rainfall accumulation predictions up to Fri evening, a fair shot of rain, Fri watching for Thunderstorms, small chance tomorrow too, will see the charts later

Was just wondering about thunderstorm potential. Meteorite, do you think storms might break out after the rain bands clear on Friday, perhaps in a central belt towards the north east during the evening?

Looks wet with a wave on the front but I wouldn’t mind 25-50mm, imagine the growth with heat next week to follow.

Heavy bursts of rain in the SW and W in the first half of the early hours. Very heavy thundery rain looks like moving in over Cork during the rush hours and spreads along the south and up along the east. Sporadic outbreaks of light to moderate rain will continue throughout the day until more organised and much heavier rain returns again on Thursday evening. As Meteorite eluded to, there is a possibility of thunderstorms developing in the flow through tomorrow and on Friday. Keep a check on the thunderstorm thread for these developments. Hopefully we don't see any flash flooding but the potential is definitely there.

Not that the met Eireann app is ever accurate but it now has thunderstorms in Arklow from 7 am to 11am tomorrow morning

And of course that app says something different this morning ,it does have 1 thunder symbol now at 9am and just rain as opposed to heavy rain

The next heavy spell of rain will approach the southwest coast around 9pm. It will be interesting to see if there's thunderstorm development at some stage tomorrow. The west might experience drier weather on Friday afternoon. I'm stuck under a street line of rain in my area of Meath for the past few hours.

Earlier thought I'd take the bus into Ballina from Enniscrone, so I did. Wearing light summer gear. Then the heavens opened when bus reached Ballina. Travelled in bus to bus station and sat in bus station until I could board bus for return journey.

Lovely all day in dublin, thermometer in the garden was reading 26 at one point, very muggy though. Hopefully the rain brings a thunderstorm to freshen things up.

God I seem to be cursed for starting the thread. The rain seemed to have followed like a street to include my area of north meath into louth. Even Gonzo got drier weather along with Dublin. It's lashing rain again after a couple of hours break 🙃
