IWO forecasts for Ireland ( No Chat )

Hi folks,

It has now been over two months since MT has unfortunately left us. However, his legacy very much lives on and I feel I sort of have an obligation to keep it going as I was always the guy who would step in to help out when he would be occupied with other matters whenever I realistically could. Due to this I have decided to keep the forecasts going and will use this thread to post them starting off fresh rather than getting MT's thread reopened. It will not be possible for me to dedicate myself to doing these every day but will attempt to update when I can and hope you appreciate the efforts.

If you would like to give feedback, ideally can you give so via either PM, the spring discussion thread or even in the Irish Weather Online comments rather than posting here please. Thank you for your co-operation in advance. With all that said and done, here's the forecast.

Forecast for Ireland, 28th April 2026

The next two days will bring plenty of fine weather with good sunshine, especially tomorrow Wednesday but then there will be a marked change with more changeable conditions from Thursday onwards as the rain returns from the southwest. It will be cooler by the weekend as winds veer to the northwest.

TODAY TUESDAY ... Sunny spells with variable cloud cover across the nation. Temperatures getting up to the high teens (17-19C) out west sheltered from the easterly wind which will make it cooler on the east coast closer to 12-15C. The easterly may pick up to moderate levels so beware that there'll be a noticeable chill.

TONIGHT ... Mostly clear skies with a fairly cool night for some getting down to 2 or 3C, the coolest conditions will be inland to the north and south midlands. Milder closer to coasts up to 5-7C at lowest.

TOMORROW WEDNESDAY ... A very sunny day likely with prolonged spells of unbroken sunshine. However, the easterly wind will give a noticeable chill again and will be stronger than today. Turning cloudier towards the southwest and south later in the day into the night as rain nears. Afternoon temperatures getting up to the high teens again in the west whilst the east will be suppressed closer in the low teens and even lower on the immediate coast.

THURSDAY ... Showers or longer spells of rain to the south and southwest will attempt to head northeastward but may grind to a halt and fizzle out in a line from Donegal to Wicklow by the evening hours. Temperatures will be suppressed under the rain with 11-13C at best whilst further east and northeast may get to the mid to upper teens where it will hold dry for a while at least, perhaps all day with some sunny spells but overall a good bit of cloud expected. The easterly wind will begin to ease and veer more south overnight.

FRIDAY ... A classic case of sunshine and showers returns with temperatures ranging from 14-18C, warmest in the Meath/Dublin area and coolest on west and south coasts due to the southerly wind which will be relatively light to moderate in nature. Fog patches possible Friday night under light winds and clear spells.

SATURDAY ... Good bit of cloud and more prolonged showers likely with temperatures down on recent days getting up to 11-15C as the wind veers back to the northwest.

SUNDAY ... Another day of sunny spells and showers. More drier moments than Saturday but similar temperature values in the low teens.

BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY ... A range out of outcomes. Currently it's looking like an alright day with a build of pressure lessening the shower risk compared to the weekend but still a chance and not warm with afternoon highs fairly typical for early May in the 12-15C range.

Overall, early May is looking like typical Irish weather of rain or showers at times and some drier interludes with rather disappointing but average temperatures for the time of year. Try and enjoy the next two days best you can if you get the chance. Just remember that the easterly wind will make it feel chilly to those exposed so wear appropriate clothing!

Forecast for Ireland, 2nd June 2026

Temperatures by day rather below average with unsettled conditions prevalent through the first and second week of June. Relatively mild at night. The signal remains for warmer temperatures by the end of the second week into the third week but good bit of divide in model output on whether it would bring drier weather simultaneously or continue mixed.

TODAY TUESDAY ... Showers, initially heavy especially in the east, with a few sunny spells across Ireland. The shower risk will ease off later in the day with light to moderate westerly winds in afternoon highs from 14C in the north and west up to 18C in the east.

TONIGHT ... Rain arriving in the southwest pushing northeastward through the night into tomorrow morning. Lowest temps getting down to 10-12C mainly.

TOMORROW WEDNESDAY ... After the rain clears northeastward through the morning, there will be heavy showers developing behind that may consist of thunder. Southwesterly winds stronger with afternoon highs of 13C in the northwest to 17 or 18C in the east.

THURSDAY ... Another day of heavy showers that may merge into persistent spells of rain. Shower risk easing during the evening. Gusty westerly winds giving temperatures of only 12 or 13C at best in the west whilst it will be up to 16C in the southeast.

FRIDAY ... Some showers developing through the afternoon across the country but looks less so compared to prior days. West to southwesterly winds easing to light to moderate as well but temperatures disappointing at only 12-15C. Rain arriving into Munster by the evening hours.

SATURDAY ... Rain pushing northeastward through the early hours followed by scattered showers. Quite cool for June with highs of only 10 or 11C in the north and up to 15C in the southeast.

Forecast for Ireland, 3rd June 2026

Trends remain the same of unsettled weather with rain and showers this week into the next and any sign of improvement won't be until the end of the second week or through the third week. Becoming quite cool for June this weekend by day but cloud will help keep nights on the relatively mild side.

TODAY WEDNESDAY ... Rain clearing the northeast followed by lots of showers, occasionally heavy with thunder mixed in. West to southwesterly winds gusty in nature with max temperatures ranging from 13C in the west to 17C in the east.

TONIGHT ... Showers will continue into tonight with westerly winds easing off somewhat but remaining on the fresh side and lows of 9-11C.

TOMORROW THURSDAY ... Another day of heavy showers. These showers will ease off eventually later in the day but temperatures ranging from only 12-16C, always mildest in the east and southwest more sheltered from the westerly winds. Thursday night will be a bit cooler than of late as winds fall lighter under more clear spells.

FRIDAY ... Less showery than recent days but the risk of scattered showers remains with some sunny spells before rain will occur from the southwest through the late afternoon and evening pushing northeastward through Friday night. Southwesterly winds light to moderate during the day, strengthening southeasterly later. Max temperatures of only 12C on the south coast to 16C in the east. Conditions possible for a colourful sky at dawn on Friday for the west and south.

SATURDAY ... Rain clearing eastward followed by some showers and sunny spells in rather brisk southwesterly winds. Max temperatures ranging from 12C in the west to 15 or 16C in the southeast, possibly in the northwest as well for a time.

SUNDAY ... Lots of showers merging into longer spells of rain and rather cool with max temps only ranging from 11-15C.

Forecast for Ireland, 4th June 2026

Temperatures below average and rainfall above average for at least the next 8 days with good bit of showers. Always mildest in the east and coolest in the west due to exposure to the westerly flow which will be prevalent almost throughout the period. Still a sign that somewhat warmer conditions will develop from around June 14th/15th but at this current point it's likely to remain on the unsettled side at least at first with this warmer air tropical maritime sourced which usually ends up damp and humid in Ireland apart from the leeward slope of mountain ranges such as Wicklow where the air dries out and those places get more sunshine such as Bray. Maybe a stronger push towards higher pressure by the latter half of the third week.

TODAY THURSDAY ... A classic fare of sunshine and showers, more widespread later in the morning into the early afternoon before easing off as the day goes on. Westerly winds remaining gusty with maximum temperatures ranging from 12C in the west to 16C in the east and southeast.

TONIGHT ... Showers will ease off with clear spells. The wind will also calm down and it will be one of the coolest nights for a good while getting down into the mid single digits, 3 or 4C in the sheltered southeast is possible.

TOMORROW FRIDAY ... Mostly dry at first with some scattered showers and sunny spells. However, rain will develop from the southwest and push northeastwards later in the day through the afternoon. Winds will freshen again and it could be unseasonably windy on exposed southwest coasts Friday night into early Saturday.

SATURDAY ... Rain gradually clearing northeastward, it may take until the mid-afternoon to clear east and northeast coastal areas. Sunshine and scattered showers will follow behind in fresh westerly winds by the evening. Maximum temps from 12C in the west to 16 or 17C in the southeast in some slightly milder air from the south for a time.

SUNDAY ... Significant changes for Sunday compared to yesterday. Whereas it was looking showery and cool, it's now looking like a weather front will linger over the country with a dividing line between cooler air to the west side of it and warmer, more humid air to the east of it. Where it lingers could have a lot of rain and be very heavy occasionally. Details to be firmed up on. Ahead of it in any hazy sunny spells, it could now get up to the high teens in the east with 12-14C at best to the west and northwest. Winds moderate southwesterly in nature.

MONDAY ... Straightforward sunshine and scattered showers as winds veer back to the west. Maximum temps 12-16C.

Forecast for Ireland, 5th June 2026

No changes in trends, remaining unsettled through the next week with plenty of showers and rain at times in blustery westerly winds.

TODAY FRIDAY ... Dry for many to start the day with some scattered showers across the country into the afternoon. Rain will reach Kerry and Cork by the early afternoon hours and gradually push northeastward through the day reaching most areas by the early hours of Saturday morning. Becoming increasingly windy. Maximum temps ranging from 12C in the west and southwest up to 16 or 17C in the east.

TONIGHT ... Widespread rain clearing northeastward, heaviest in the mid-west and especially the south. Winds likely to be very gusty in coastal Munster, unseasonably so for the time of year. Minimum values of 9-12C from north to south.

TOMORROW SATURDAY ... The rain will clear the east and northeast through the later morning hours followed by sunny spells and a scattering of showers. Strong winds will ease off significantly for many as the day goes on but as the wind veers more west, it will increase for the exposed west coasts. Afternoon values ranging from 12 or 13C in the west up to 17C in the southeast.

SUNDAY ... Lots of cloud with humid air to the east which could bring temperatures to high teens if any sunshine but this does not look likely. Heavy rain or showers fairly widespread will push eastward through the day not clearing the east coast until the evening hours. Some fresher conditions will arrive into the west with moderate west to southwesterly winds. These will come with further showers though with some sunny spells. Max temperatures from 13C in the west to 16-18C in the east.

MONDAY & TUESDAY ... Both days a case of sunshine and showers in blustery westerly winds. Maximum temps during the afternoons 13-16C at best.

Forecast for Ireland, 7th June 2026

A relatively cool week ahead for early to mid-June with temperatures below average by day and night at times. Plenty of showers and occasional rain bands passing through. Promise for things to warm up significantly by the weekend into the third week of the month. High uncertainty on if this will be the very warm dry type or relatively warm and humid but still damp kind.

TODAY SUNDAY ... Mostly cloudy with rain spreading eastward. The rain will likely become very heavy with some high rates possible in a short period of time in the east later. Hazy sunny spells at times in the east earlier on in the day. Sunshine and some scattered showers will arrive in the west through the evening. Where the rain cloud lies with some clearance on the western horizon could be a colourful sunset, the midlands most likely. Maximum temps ranging from mostly 13-15C with up to 16 or 17C possible in the sheltered east in moderate southwesterly winds.

TONIGHT ... The last of the rain will clear the east followed by clear spells and some scattered showers. Minimum temps down to 6 or 7C, slightly cooler in local sheltered areas and slightly milder on exposed coasts to southwest to westerly winds.

TOMORROW MONDAY ... A day of sunshine and showers, becoming widespread through the afternoon. Moderate westerly winds giving maximum temps from 12-16C, mildest in the southeast.

TUESDAY ... Another day of sunshine and showers in moderate westerly winds. Similar maximum temps from 12C in the north and northwest to 16C in the southeast.

WEDNESDAY ... Some further scattered showers and sunshine to start the day. More prolonged widespread showers will push southeastward from the north through the morning into the afternoon with good bits of cloud. This will ease off later but more rain possible late Wednesday night into Thursday morning. No change in temperatures ranging from 12-16C.

THURSDAY ... Rain will clear east followed by a return to sunshine and showers. A bit milder but with rather blustery winds at first southerly, veering westerly later. Maximum temps still 12-14C for places but higher teens over Munster.

FRIDAY ... High uncertainty. Could well be another day of sunshine and showers in blustery westerly winds. Alternatively, higher pressure could build from the south with good warm sunshine developing. Watch this space.

Forecast for Ireland, 8th June 2026

Below average temperatures by day and night during the first half of this week with plenty of showers and rain at times. Conditions improving over the weekend with more sunny spells and temperatures rising.

TODAY MONDAY ... Showers will get going through the day from the west and push eastward becoming frequent during the afternoon. Blustery west to southwest winds will give a raw feel at times with max temps only 12C in the west to 16C in the east. Sporadic thunder possible, moreso in the north.

TONIGHT ... The westerly winds will ease off a little but remaining blustery, especially on exposed coasts. Further showers and some clear spells across the country. Cool getting down to 4 or 5C in the north and southeast, around 7-9C on western coasts.

TOMORROW TUESDAY ... Another showery day with more frequent showers through the day and sunny spells inbetween. Thunderstorms possible to develop during the afternoon in the north and east. Max temperatures again only 12-16C in fresh westerly winds. Rather cool Tuesday night as westerly winds ease off somewhat.

WEDNESDAY ... More showers clearing southeastward with drier periods following from the west later but cloud will also generally increase by Wednesday evening and night ahead of rain into early Thursday which will hold up the temperature Wednesday night. Max temperatures remaining similar in the 12-16C range from west to east.

THURSDAY ... Rain to start the day will clear to the east by the afternoon followed by some scattered showers and sunnier spells. Maximum temps ranging from 13 to 18C.

FRIDAY ... Looks like pressure will rise lowering the risk of showers and more sunshine into the south and east. Still uncertainty on how strong of an influence this high pressure will be. For now cloud still likely up north with some drizzle. Max temperatures could be up to 21 or 22C in good sunshine in the south whilst it will be mid-teens in the north.

SATURDAY ... Significantly warmer for all with max temperatures getting into the 20s for a widespread region through the afternoon and good sunshine especially for the south and east. Always a risk of cloud closer to the north and northwest.

Forecast for Ireland, 9th June 2026

Showery and cool to start the period, turning warmer and generally drier over the weekend for a time. The warm and dry period is likely to be transient with more changeable conditions again from next week as high pressure looks flimsy in nature rather than the omega blocking that gave the May warm spell.

TODAY TUESDAY ... Plenty of showers developing during the day in blustery westerly winds with risk of thunderstorms, mainly over the north and northeast. Some sunny spells inbetween and rather cool with max temperatures ranging from 12-16C west to east.

TONIGHT ... Showers will continue, especially to the west and north. Some clear spells too with westerly winds easing making it a cool night for some getting down to 4 or 5C whilst others under cloud will be 6-9C.

TOMORROW WEDNESDAY ... More showers again which will ease later in the day in moderate westerly winds. Some sunny spells as well in max temperatures of similar values from 12-16C. Cloud increasing from the west through the evening hours ahead of rain pushing eastward Wednesday night into Thursday morning which will hold up the temperature.

THURSDAY ... Widespread rain pushing eastward to start the day clearing the east coast by the afternoon. There will be further showers behind with a good bit of cloud for the rest of the day in moderate south to southwesterly winds. Afternoon highs of 13-18C from northwest to southeast.

FRIDAY ... Cloudy early on with some patchy rain and drizzle. Sunny spells developing for the south and east through the day but remaining rather cloudy in the north and west. Temperatures up to 20 or 21C in the southeast whilst still 14 or 15C up north.

SATURDAY ... Rather cloudy still in the north and northwest with hazy sunshine elsewhere during the morning. More frequent sunny spells developing with temperatures responding getting up to 24 or 25C possible in the south and east away from the coast. Closer to higher teens or low 20s elsewhere.

SUNDAY ... Hazy warm sunshine to start the day, cloudy to the west and north with some drizzle possible as winds veer southerly. Max temperatures ranging from 17-25C.

Additional note: The first noctilucent clouds of the season were spotted over Ireland this morning. If you want to observe NLCs which are white glowing clouds in the summer twilight sky, you need to look out around an hour after sunset and an hour to two hours before sunrise to the north if you have clear skies. They are most common before sunrise. They disappear or get fainter lower on the northern horizon for a time as the sky gets darker around midnight to 2am. There's no way of predicting them. Mid-June to mid-July is peak NLC season in Ireland.

Forecast for Ireland, 12th June 2026

North south split this weekend with cooler and overall cloudier conditions in the north and the chance of drizzle or light showers whilst the south and east will fare significantly warmer with hazy sunshine. Turning more unsettled again next week, remaining a little milder than of late as the air will be sourced more from the mid-Atlantic but this will also continue to produce a lot of cloud.

TODAY FRIDAY ... Good amounts of cloud with drizzle, especially early on and in the north. Some more sunny spells will develop later away from Ulster but breezy everywhere especially on exposed coasts. Maximum temps will get up to 19-20C in sunshine in the south and east whilst most will be in the 13-17C range, always coolest in the north.

TONIGHT ... Remaining on the breezy side with some clear spells, temperatures only getting below to 8-11C generally. Some showers likely to continue in the north where more cloud will be.

TOMORROW SATURDAY ... Good amount of dry weather with hazy sunshine for many with some showers possible over northern Ulster. Thicker cloud out to the west coast. Maximum temperatures ranging from 13/14C in the north to 20 or 21C in the south. Winds will be fresh from westerly direction in the north, more moderate to the south with variable direction.

SUNDAY ... Hazy sunny spells with fair amounts of cloud scattered around, especially on the west coast. Better sunny spells during the afternoon and evening though cloud will increase again from the southwest overnight with some drizzle. Max temperatures on Sunday from 14C in the north to low 20s in the west and southwest. It will be cooler on the east coast in the mid-teens due to the wind veering easterly.

MONDAY ... Some light rain or drizzle spreading northeastwards, colourful dawn for the north and east possible ahead of this though the added humidity might wash out the intensity if it does occur. Some occasional hazy sunny spells ahead and behind the band. Max temperatures up to 19 or 20C in the midlands. The east and north will be coolest again due to south to southeasterly winds.

Details beyond Monday are to be firmed up on so not going any further for now but generally speaking it's likely to return to pretty wet weather from the North Atlantic though reminder a little milder than of late for many more in the mid to upper teens.

Forecast for Ireland, 14th June 2026

A mixed week ahead with large amounts of cloud and winds primarily from the west after a period of easterly winds through today and tomorrow. Rainfall totals for the most part look low with two main periods of wet weather highlighted for Tuesday afternoon focused on the south and east and especially Thursday night more widespread. Milder than last week but more typical values for mid-June than anything that warm. Ridging may build back next weekend again. Some model runs have hinted towards a setup in the fourth week of June that would give a very warm period but the signal is not strong.

TODAY SUNDAY ... Hazy sunshine becoming more widespread through the day after a cloudy start. Some drizzle is possible at first, moreso in the north. The west will be warmest for a change as the wind will veer to the east with low 20s here whilst the south and east coast will be mid-teens. Northern areas in the upper teens. Easterly winds will be rather light in nature but moderate on exposed coasts and to the south of the country.

TONIGHT ... Some clear spells and dry but fair amounts of cloud across the country. Thickest of cloud may produce drizzle. Relatively mild getting down to 10-12C generally.

TOMORROW MONDAY ... Some hazy sunny spells early on with cloud increasing from the west bringing drizzle or light rain eastward. Winds east to southeast at first, veering southwesterly later in the day with max temperatures from 15-20C west to east. Misty and damp Monday night with some drizzle and mild.

TUESDAY ... A cloudy, damp start with some drizzle. Some limited bright spells to the north and west possible before more rain pushes up from the southwest affecting the south and east which might be occasionally heavy. The north and west looks to avoid much of this rain. Southwesterly winds increasing in strength with max temperatures of 15-20C, coolest on south and west coasts and warmest in the east. Clearer spells following into Tuesday night from the southwest.

WEDNESDAY ... A windy but brighter day with some showers, mainly in the northwest. Cloud increasing to the south and southwest later in the day with max temperatures ranging from 15-20C west to east again.

THURSDAY ... Cloud and outbreaks of rain through the day with limited brightness. Winds veering southerly increasing the humidity but the southerly wind will be gusty in nature. More general rain will spread across the country from the west and southwest later in the day through the night which could be very heavy for a time. Max temperatures through the day 15-19C west to east.

Forecast for Ireland, 16th June 2026

Changeable conditions throughout the week with lots of cloud as winds predominantly coming off the Atlantic. Signs for some pressure to build from Sunday but staying to the south of the country. This means that whilst it could well turn rather warm in the south and east, there will continue to be a flow off the Atlantic which will bring mainly damp humid conditions with fronts coming over the top of the ridge.

TODAY TUESDAY ... Some limited bright spells here or there at times. Otherwise mostly cloudy with drizzle pushing eastward. More persistent rain likely to clip Munster and south Leinster from east Cork to north Wexford through the late afternoon and evening hours. Humid southerly winds bringing the risk of fog to the exposed south coast. Max temperatures of 15-20C, coolest on south and west facing coasts whilst warmest in the east.

TONIGHT ... Mild with southerly winds veering southwesterly. A mix of cloud and clear spells after the rain clears the east but there'll be some further showers from the west. Most places only getting down to 12 or 13C.

TOMORROW WEDNESDAY ... Blustery west to southwesterly winds feeding in a few showers, mainly to the west and north, with sunny spells. Cloud increasing from the southwest during the evening hours with rain becoming widespread through the early hours of Thursday morning. Max temperatures similar of 15-20C, coolest in the west and warmest in the east.

THURSDAY ... Widespread rain pushing northward through Thursday morning, heaviest over Munster and south Leinster. Will attempt to clear by the afternoon but some further rain or drizzle is likely to linger on in Ulster and Leinster. Temporarily drier periods for Connacht and west Ulster. More widespread rain will push up from the south Thursday night into Friday with the heaviest falls this time up west facing counties. Max temperatures of 15-20C, coolest on south and northern coasts. It will feel close at times with a relative high humid feel to the day. Southerly winds moderate in nature.

FRIDAY ... The rain will gradually clear the north through the morning but the east could hold onto rain and cloud for much of the day whilst the west will see bright spells with some showers in light to moderate southwesterly winds. Max temperatures continuing to be in the 15-20C range.

SATURDAY ... Dry start for many with a few scattered showers. Rain likely to return from the south by the evening and night hours affecting a good part of the country into early Sunday morning. Max temps from 14-17C.

A later update this morning but an important one with some details on tomorrow's rain and some changes for the weekend.

Forecast for Ireland, 17th June 2026

Continuing mixed for the week ahead with rain and showers at times. Widespread rain on Thursday could give rise to localised flooding as totals look rather high for some and this rain could last well into Friday for a portion of the country before fresher, drier conditions arrive from the west. The low chance remains of a build in pressure bringing significantly warmer and fine weather next week but the highest likelihood is that it will continue mixed with relatively warm and humid conditions occasionally, moreso for the south and east. This uncertainty begins as soon as Sunday as to where a cut off low will be placed in the Atlantic or the Bay of Biscay.

TODAY WEDNESDAY ... Good bright spells across the country today with some scattered showers, mainly in the west and northwest. A moderate southwesterly breeze with max temperatures of 15C in the west to 20 or 21C in the east. Not a bad day, however cloud will thicken with rain arriving in the southwest later in the day around the early evening hours.

TONIGHT ... Light rain and drizzle will push into the southwest through the evening hours, this won't amount to much. More general persistent rain arriving the early hours of Thursday morning affecting most places with highest totals expected in a diagonal stretch from Kerry and Cork up to Meath/Westmeath. Munster could see over 30-40mm of rain the next 48 hours. This rain will pass over relatively quickly and clear the east coast through the later morning hours but looks heavy in the stretch named. The rain and cloud will keep it mild only getting down to 12-14C for most, a bit cooler in the north where there may be some clear spells for a time.

THURSDAY ... The first of the rain bands will clear eastward through the later morning hours. Further damp and drizzly conditions with a bit of light rain mixed in will continue across Ireland during the day itself before more frequent heavier rain again from the southwest through the later evening hours into the night and highest totals again in similar counties. Humid with temperatures of 15-20C west to east. May even get a little higher if the sun manages to come out in drier periods. Remaining mild and humid into Thursday night.

FRIDAY ... The rain will continue through Friday morning and even into the afternoon for the east of the country with some heavy falls likely again before clearing by the later afternoon hours into the Irish Sea. Brighter conditions will follow from the west with relatively light southwesterly winds and a few showers. Max temps of 15-20C, coolest in the north and upper teens for most places.

SATURDAY ... Now looking like a rather decent day with the previously expected rain no longer signalled. Sunny spells and mostly dry with the odd shower. Maximum temps of high teens for most with mid-teens in the northwest and coastal areas in light variable winds.

SUNDAY ... Uncertainty surrounding a cut off low that may bring rain from the west though not pushing eastward all that far or if higher pressure will be strong enough to fend off this and leave it out in the Atlantic. If so, could be a very pleasant day with sunny spells and warming up to widespread high teens and low 20s. The east is quite likely to be rather fine either way based on current model output.

-- UPDATE 18th June 2026 --

Rain for some places this evening and further outbreaks will push up from the south and southwest through the night. Some of it likely to be pretty heavy for Munster and Leinster through the early hours of Friday morning. This will attempt to clear the east coast by the middle of the afternoon tomorrow with sunny spells and showers following behind.

Keeping a very close eye on the model runs which for the past day have started to tease more of hot weather that will be over western Europe to also start affecting Ireland. Any hot conditions (high 20s or low 30s) if they do occur look brief in nature and possible from Thursday 25th but we're talking over 7 days away which is a long time in weather world.

The weekend looks fine and pleasant with a lot of dry conditions, only the odd chance of shower. Could get pretty warm by Sunday.

Early next week continues to have uncertainty on the details but at first it looks like it could be warm for the south and east with mid 20s possible but fair amounts of cloud cover, especially up north where it will be thicker with drizzle or light rain and significantly cooler.

Hopefully things get firmed up soon on the whereabouts of the warm/hot weather next week.

A warm week ahead with lots of dry weather until next weekend when it's likely to become more volatile with risk of thunderstorms followed by a mixed end to June. Could become notably warm by Thursday and Friday with chance of 30C rising locally.

TODAY SATURDAY ... Mainly dry and fine with sunny spells in light westerly breezes. Small chance of an odd shower. Maximum temps ranging from 15C in the west and northwest to 22C in the east.

TONIGHT ... Dry with clear spells. Some mist patches may develop locally as the wind falls very light. Minimum temps mostly 8-11C, a little cooler in the northwest.

TOMORROW SUNDAY ... Another dry day of sunny spells and winds veering east bringing the warmest conditions for the midlands and mid-west up to 23 or 24C possible. 17-19C on east and south coasts.

MONDAY ... Light rain or drizzle getting close to the northwest but should remain offshore. Some showers also close to the southeast may be thundery, otherwise dry again and warming up further with widespread 20s from north to south in variable breezes. Up to 26C in the mid-west. Monday night onward will be very mild at night not getting below the low to mid-teens.

TUESDAY ... More of an Atlantic flow will give cooler and cloudier conditions to the northwest dropping temperatures back to the mid to upper teens. Warmest conditions transferring to the east where it could be 25 or 26C in hazy sunshine.

WEDNESDAY ... Easterly breeze returns and this could result in temperatures back up to 25-27C in the west whilst the east coast will be 17-22C. Odd chance of a shower, otherwise another day of sunny spells.

THURSDAY ... Very warm with temperatures of 27-30C possible in the midlands and west. Cooler on the east and south coast in the high teens to low 20s. Widespread hazy spells of sunshine but growing risk of thundery showers or thunderstorms. Thursday night could only get down to high teens in many places, an exceptionally warm night.

FRIDAY ... Very warm once again with hazy sunny spells but further threat of thunderstorms from the south with maximum temps widely 24-28C. Coolest at the coast and in the south where cloud cover will be more plentiful.

Forecast for Ireland, 22nd June 2026

Very warm next few days and hot by Thursday with increasing risk of temperatures going into the 30s. The heat will be short-lived with significantly cooler weather through the weekend with showers and rain at times into the final few days of June. Beyond that, some high pressure close by may still keep the south and east relatively dry and warmer but as the flow will be off the Atlantic, it will probably be cloudy.

TODAY MONDAY ... Mostly cloudy conditions this morning with some drizzle or light rain in the west and northwest. Sunny spells will develop through the day and the temperature will respond getting into the mid 20s for the midlands and mid-west. Coolest on the immediate east coast and northern counties. Light winds variable in direction. The odd shower may come close to the southeast.

TONIGHT ... Very mild with clear spells. Some mist and fog patches possible where winds fall very light. Minimum temps only getting down to 13-16C generally speaking.

TOMORROW TUESDAY ... Very warm with good sunny spells, a bit more cloud to the north. Could get up to 28-29C in the midlands. Upper 20s in the south and east. Significantly cooler in the north and west with more of a westerly breeze from 17-23C. Very mild Tuesday night again with cloud building.

WEDNESDAY ... Fair bit of cloud, at least early on with drizzle possible but good sunny spells likely again and it could reach 29 or even 30C in the south midlands. The east will be cooler due to an easterly breeze but still up to mid 20s. Northern areas coolest overall. Wednesday night may not get below 17-19C for some.

THURSDAY ... Hot and humid, probably some of the hottest weather you will experience in Ireland due to some exceptionally high dew points. This will make it feel oppressive. The east to southeasterly breeze may offer some light relief as it will increase to moderate. Maximum temps ranging from 24-32C. Good sunshine early on but increasing risk of thundery showers. Thursday night will continue warm and humid getting down to only mid to upper teens.

FRIDAY ... Significantly cooler but still rather warm getting up to 24 or 25C in the east, 18-23C elsewhere.. A mix of sunshine and showers, occasionally heavy. Moderate winds southerly in direction.

SATURDAY ... Widespread showers with some sunny spells in moderate southwesterly winds. Maximum temps 15-21C from west to east.

Forecast for Ireland, 23rd June 2026

Exceptionally warm to hot few days up to Thursday and maybe Friday with high humidity making it feel oppressive at times. Increasing risk of thunderstorms by then with cooler conditions by the weekend taking us back to a typical changeable Irish westerly through the final few days of June into the start of July.

TODAY TUESDAY ... Some cloud this morning will clear with widespread spells of sunshine developing. The temperature will respond with many already around 16-20C this morning and will rise to the mid to high 20s for the south and east whilst it will be high teens to low 20s in the west. Cloud will tend to persist to the northwest with more of a westerly wind today.

TONIGHT ... Cloud building but mostly dry with just some drizzle in spots. Very mild only getting down to 12-18C, warmest in the east and south.

TOMORROW WEDNESDAY ... Cloud will break up through the day with sunny spells developing. The north and northwest again will hold onto cloud for the longest where temperatures will cap in the low 20s. The warmest conditions will transfer to the south and southwest due to more of an easterly breeze picking up with mid to high 20s.

THURSDAY ... Exceptionally warm to hot with growing risk of record-breaking temperatures dependent on how much sunshine there is. 34C cannot be ruled out in the west and midlands. Cooler at coastal and eastern regions but even here temperatures look to be in the mid 20s generally speaking due to how hot the airmass will be. The day is likely to begin sunny but instability will build through the day increasing the cloud cover and perhaps limiting the ceiling on how high the temperature will go, subject to change. This will also give rise to thunderstorms with the northwest (Connacht/Ulster) favoured for the highest likelihood and the risk goes on into Thursday night. Moderate east to southeasterly breezes.

FRIDAY ... It looks like heat could hold on into Friday now with winds becoming southerly. This could mean temperatures up to 28-30C again, moreso in the north and east. Cooler conditions for the west and south due to onshore breeze or more frequent cloud cover from thunderstorms which will continue to have a risk of occurring.

SATURDAY ... Cooler but could still be pretty warm and humid to the east with temperatures still getting up to 24C. Mid-teens in the west. Sunshine is likely to be limited with widespread showers in moderate southerly winds.

SUNDAY ... Sunshine and showers with more typical temperatures for Ireland at this time of year in the 15-20C range from west to east.

Forecast for Ireland, 25th June 2026

Today will be the peak of the heat across a majority of the country though tomorrow will possibly be warmer across the east due to the influence of an easterly breeze which will veer southerly then. Risk of thunderstorms through today and tomorrow will be followed by gradually fresher conditions through the weekend with a typical Atlantic westerly developing for the rest of June into the start of July.

TODAY THURSDAY ... Good sunshine for many this morning but more cloud out to the west and northwest from Clare to Donegal with some heavy showers offshore into Mayo and Galway, some consisting of thunder. Further thunderstorms are likely during the course of the day with Connacht and Donegal favoured for some possible violent storms by the evening. The added cloud will reduce the chances of record-breaking temperatures. Others are likely to stay dry for much of the day. If there's good sunshine, the midlands and parts of the west will get into the 30s. The east, south and north will be cooler more towards the mid-20s due to the influence of an easterly breeze which will be moderate occasionally.

TONIGHT ... Thundery showers, possibly violent thunderstorms in the northwest - as ever storms come with high uncertainty due to the difficulty in being able to detect if a trigger will take place to break the cap - will continue. Warm again only getting down to 17-19C for many but it will be somewhat cooler to the north and northwest down to the lower to mid-teens. Variable cloud and clear spells elsewhere.

TOMORROW FRIDAY ... Further showers and thunderstorms likely, more widespread this time. Highest risk of thunderstorms to the west and north. Mist and fog on the south coast due to the humid southerly flow. Up to 29 or even 30C possible in the Dublin area depending on sunshine, the midlands also up to high 20s whilst the north and south coast will be significantly cooler down to high teens to low 20s with more cloud.

SATURDAY ... Showers spreading eastward with a few bright spells inbetween. Winds veering moderate southwesterly with maximum temps still up to 23 or 24C in the east but most will be closer to average by this point in the upper teens to low 20s.

SUNDAY ... Sunshine and a few showers in moderate west to southwesterly winds. The showers dying off later in the day. Temperatures back to typical values for late June of 15/16C in the west to 19/20C in the east.

MONDAY ... Currently looks like another day with a few scattered showers and sunny spells. Winds light to moderate southwesterly in direction with afternoon highs of 16-20C. Possibly more general showers and rain later Monday night into Tuesday.

Forecast for Ireland, 27th June 2026

Back to normal service of winds predominantly off the North Atlantic bringing rain and showers at times through the next week. Temperatures average for the time of year, may feel cool relatively speaking in the wind especially in the west exposed to it. There is signs that it will start to warm up again with the increasing chance for hot weather to return at the end of the first week into the second week of July courtesy of the Azores High throwing up ridging.

TODAY SATURDAY ... Patchy rain and showers spreading eastward with a good bit of cloud and only limited brightness. Cooler than of late but still rather humid up to 23C in the east and mid to high teens in the west. Southerly to southwesterly winds rather moderate to fresh in nature though these will ease off to an extent later in the day.

TONIGHT ... Significantly cooler night as temperatures down to the low double digits generally speaking, still near mid-teens in the east. Could even get down into single digits under clearer spells. Variable cloud and scattered showers in light to moderate southwesterlies.

TOMORROW SUNDAY ... A day of sunshine and scattered showers. The east and southeast will be favoured to stay dry for longest where there's less chance of a shower. Maximum temps during the afternoon cooler everywhere now ranging only from 15C in the west to 19 or 20C in the east with blustery southwesterly winds again. The showers will ease off into Sunday for most away from Atlantic coastlines with clear spells.

MONDAY ... Mostly dry start with a few scattered showers. Cloud and rain will gather from the southwest during the afternoon pushing northeastward. Persistent rain will clear during the night into the early morning hours but will quickly be followed by some showers. Maximum temps of 16-21C from west to east. Breezy with winds from the southwest.

TUESDAY ... Rain will clear eastward during the early morning hours. Breezy with scattered showers and some sunny spells, a touch warmer for many in the high teens to 20/21C as the wind veers southeasterly for a time. Cooler on the immediate west coast and in the north closer to the mid-teens.

WEDNESDAY ... Cloudy with winds veering southwest and some patchy rain possible, especially up north. Clear spells into Wednesday night. Maximum temps of 15/16C to the south and west with up to 20 or 21C in the east and southeast.

Forecast for Ireland, 28th June 2026

A mix of brighter moments with rain and showers at times through the week ahead until the weekend when high pressure will become more influential to the south of Ireland increasing the temperature again. At first this would be cloudy and rather humid due to the air still coming off the North Atlantic, especially further north, with thick cloud producing drizzle. Prospect is for this high pressure to gradually build bringing more sunshine and warmth nationwide the end of the first week into the second week of July.

TODAY SUNDAY ... Blustery southwesterly winds feeding in showers from the west with sunny spells inbetween. The east staying dry for longest with the chance of a shower reaching here during the afternoon before easing back by the evening hours. Maximum temperatures ranging from 15C in the west to 20C in the east.

TONIGHT ... Some showers continuing in the west and northwest but most will be dry with clear spells and variable cloud. Minimum temps ranging from 10-12C and southwesterly winds becoming moderate.

TOMORROW MONDAY ... Some sunny spells to start the day, mainly in the east, with cloud gathering pace out west ahead of rain through the afternoon and becoming widespread during the evening. Moderate southwesterly winds giving maximum temps of 15/16C in the southwest to 21C in the east in any hazy sunshine.

TUESDAY ... Showers and longer spells of rain will continue to clear eastward during the morning hours followed by sunny spells and showers with the wind veering northwesterly later. Maximum temps 16-21C, a little milder early on in south to southeasterly winds.

WEDNESDAY ... Rain to the north, heavier over Ulster and north Connacht, with mainly drizzle or light rain expected elsewhere and a good bit of cloud in a blustery south to southwesterly airflow. Maximum temps of 15-20C. Clearer spells later in the evening from the west into the night.

THURSDAY ... Good bit of dry weather with a few scattered showers and sunny spells. Maximum temps from 15C in the northwest to 22C in sunshine in the southeast.

FRIDAY ... Currently expected to be light to moderate rain to the north and northwest pushing southeastward and fizzling out to only cloud and drizzle by the time it reaches the south. Could take all day to do so with good sunshine and getting up to 22 or 23C in Munster. But subject to change.

Forecast for Ireland, 30th June 2026

Average temperatures for the time of year for the next few days with driest conditions for the south and east. Some rain or showers will occur everywhere at times until the weekend when high pressure is expected to be more influential close to Ireland into early next week with an increase in temperatures. Recent models have tended to keep this high pressure a little too far south to get more widespread warm sunshine however through the weekend.

TODAY TUESDAY ... Cloud and showers clearing eastward this morning with some sunny spells and further showers following behind. Sporadic thunder possible in the showers. It will become drier from the west overnight. Fresh south to southwesterly winds early on, veering light to moderate northwesterly later. Maximum temps ranging from 16C in the west to 20C in the east.

TONIGHT ... Becoming dry almost everywhere with variable cloud cover and clear spells. Some scattered showers will continue in the north and northeast at times. Winds variable in direction, rather moderate northwesterly generally. Minimum temps ranging from 10C in the west to 13 or 14C in the north and east.

TOMORROW WEDNESDAY ... Mostly cloudy with some rain and drizzle to the west and north. Likely to remain dry for the southeast for most of the day with only drizzle from the thickest cloud. More rain will spread southeastward and become lighter as it reaches the south and east through the evening hours. Maximum temps ranging from 16C in the southwest to 19 or 20C in the southeast.

THURSDAY ... A dry day for most with the odd scattered shower to the north and variable sunny spells through the day. Maximum temps ranging from 15C in the north to 20 or 21C in the south in light to moderate northwesterly winds.

FRIDAY ... Fair amounts of cloud for most with some rain and drizzle in the north spreading southeastward. Warm sunny spells for the south and southeast until the later afternoon hours when cloud builds here too. Up to 22C possible in the sunshine, 16C further north.

SATURDAY ... Damp and rather humid with drizzle. Best chance of any sunshine will be to the south and east where temps could get up to 22C again. 16/17C in the north and west.

SUNDAY ... Further damp conditions with more drizzle and rain, again especially to the north. The south will see the best chance of brightness with temperatures up to 22C.

Not getting as much time at the moment to produce forecasts so just a quick update this morning before I head to work.

Today and the next few days will continue to see drizzle, light rain and damp conditions to the north and west with a lot of cloud across the country. The best chance of any sunny spells is in the "sunny southeast" towards Wexford where it will also be warmest in the low 20s. These conditions will continue until at least Monday. This is down to high pressure from the Azores staying to our south drawing in a cloudy, damp Atlantic airflow over top of the ridge into Ireland. This is actually pretty common in July and did you know that in some places July has a lower average monthly sunshine total than August despite significantly longer daylight?

Tuesday/Wednesday could gradually see more in the way of the sunshine developing from the south as stronger ridging comes. Uncertainty continues beyond that point as to how strong and where the high pressure ends up.

Cork to Wexford is the best places to be in the next week ahead if you want dry and warm sunny spells.

Forecast for Ireland, 4th July 2026

This'll be a short update. The same weather conditions of the past few days will continue through this weekend into early next week. That is mostly damp conditions with drizzle or light rain in the north and northwest, and best chance of any sunny spells in the south and southeast especially through the afternoon and evening. Then more widespread sunny spells from Tuesday afternoon. Uncertainty remains beyond Wednesday on the placement of an upper level low which could either turn things unsettled or reinvigorate high pressure to our north and east which would in turn force hotter air to come up from the south.

SATURDAY TO MONDAY ... Mostly cloudy mornings to early afternoons. Best chance of any sunny spells will be over Munster and Leinster, especially east Munster to south Leinster. Perhaps more widespread sunny spells by Monday afternoon along the east coast. Unfortunately the north and west will remain on the damp side with drizzle and light rain at times with temperature suppressed around 15-18C due to onshore winds off the North Atlantic from a west to southwesterly direction. Those in sunshine could see temperatures up to 22C on Saturday, 24C on Sunday and Monday.

TUESDAY ... Cloud and drizzle attempting to clear to the northeast early on leaving a sunnier day for most of the country and temperatures warming up into the low to mid 20s away from Atlantic coasts as the wind direction will again mainly be from the west.

WEDNESDAY ... Variable cloud cover and sunny spells with low to mid 20s for most again away from Atlantic coastal areas.

Forecast for Ireland, 6th July 2026

Models have firmed up on what to expect for Ireland's weather later this week and now the vast majority are singing from the same hymn sheet with strong signals for heatwave conditions to develop through this week, coming weekend and even into next week. Even the west and northwest will start to get in on the sunshine and heat. It will be lower humidity than the June heatwave but still may be high at times especially towards the weekend and as it's July of course it will still feel hot in any sunshine.

TODAY MONDAY ... Some hazy sunny spells this morning to the south and east will continue through the day and maximum temps could get up to 26 or even 27C in the south. Cloudier along the west and north with some drizzle and only mid to upper teens. Light to moderate southwesterly breezes.

TONIGHT ... Mild and mostly dry apart from some drizzle in the northwest. Clearer spells towards the east and south. Temperatures ranging from 12-15C.

TOMORROW TUESDAY ... Cloudy again to start in the north and west but sunny spells in the south and east spreading to other areas through the day. Temperatures could get as high as 28C in sheltered sunny areas of the east. Still only 17-20C in the north and west due to a westerly breeze. Mist and fog forming Tuesday night for the midlands, south and east inland and in mountain valleys.

WEDNESDAY ... Sunny spells after morning mist and fog clears. Better sunshine developing through the day for most places. The risk of drizzle remains in the northwest. Temperatures ranging from 18C here to 28C possibly again in the east and southeast in light to moderate southwesterly breezes.

THURSDAY ... Cloudy morning with more sunshine developing from the south through the day and winds veering southeasterly. Maximum temps up to 25-27C across Munster and Leinster. Getting into the 20s for most of Connacht and Ulster by this point, still high teens on coastal and northern areas.

FRIDAY ... Winds veering easterly bringing the warmest conditions now to the west with lots of warm sunshine across the country. Temperatures could reach 29 or 30C. Humidity rising could spark a thunderstorm or two locally.

SATURDAY ... Continuing very warm with widespread sunshine. Cooler along the east coast due to an easterly breeze but even here will still be in the low to mid 20s. Could touch 30C again in the mid-west depending on how much sunshine there is. These conditions are likely to then continue into next week.

I realise I haven't updated this thread in over a week but basically it's the same all the way with lots of warm and dry weather continuing for the foreseeable future. Easterly breezes will bring the warmest weather to western areas. There's a slight but diminishing chance of showers, possibly thundery mid-week to the south and southwest. Otherwise exceptionally dry and warm through the week and into the next.
