To change the tractor for the exact same replacement, you'd be talking having to give 65k a long with my paid off trade-in, add in intrest on the hp and your looking at 1300-1500 euro a month, simply not a runner with milk at 37 cent a litre...
Trade in values increasing of owned gear dosent compensate for 100% plus increase in 5 years in the comparable replacement tractor, in 2017 i bought a ex-hire 10 month old T6140 new holland top spec with loader/wide tyres for 70,000 euro incl vat, milk price for 2017 will mirror this year fairly closely, to buy above tractor today id doubt you would have much change from 130k incl vat, lets say a million litre a year farm bought both tractors outright in the respective years at nearly 2.5 c/l of the total milk cheque in 2026 to paid the hp on a equivalent tractor versus 1.3 c/l in 2017
what’s the options then ? It’s unlikely new machinery prices are going to come back any time soon, if you’re doing alot of your own work like you and me are you need to upgrade a machine every year
The Dairygold Board has increased the May Milk Price by 0.5cpl to 37.5cpl including 1.463cpl Sustainability and Quality payments and VAT.

Calf/cull sales in the spring and peak cheques now are giving a false sense of security, trying to cashflow working expenses on dairy farms this winter/next spring will be tough going...
that’s also where I see big issues coming around cash flow as well unless we see decent milk price rises over next few months ….which are looking harder to see

AFAIK that 38cent is including 1 cent of evolve payments that you can claim back at end of year if you do the evolve actions.

i was at the farmwalk/BBQ today but the food was gone by the time i got to the part of the fine cubicle shed where they were cooking it.. all Kinisla's directors and chairman and CEO all present along with a large crowd.. much bigger than i thought it would be… some farmers travelled a good distance to the farm… south kerry west kerry limerick etc
plenty of staff there from Kinisla not sure what exactly they were doing or supposed to be doing… god bless the cow is all i can say

They rang me today to sign me up to a people management course or something in a hotel. 🫣
They gave up inviting me to those things. They would usually get a bollicking from me any time they try.
A lad rang me one day to go to an event. I said it was too far away, too much time, too hard to get away between school runs and milking and everything else. He just couldn't get it. Sit into your car and you will be there in an hour he said. I had to do the sums for him of getting home too and the whole thing taking 5 hours.
Those things are grand for people with help.
Its a full-time job going to these meetings, events, funerals and cake sales!
