New thread for the League of Ireland.
Previous one is currently behind itself but may return another day. Old thread:
I think they all play in that stadium. The one beside the airport?
No idea if situation has changed since we were there 2 years ago. But allocation wasn’t good then and Bohs have a lot of members.
Drawing RFS, Differdange or Levadia Tallinn will see you seeded in tomorrow’s draw. Vikingur and St Joseph’s you’ll be unseeded with us and Derry.
Should there be a separate discussion thread for "League of Ireland in Europe 2026"?
I don't think so no.
This thread, and boards, is on life support at this stage. We're getting ready to call the parish priest over for the last rites!
Having a separate thread is pointless. There is only about 10 of us that post on any kind of regular basis.
From the rte website…
Stephen Bradley's side enter the opening round as a seeded side, knowing two wins in qualifying will guarantee league phase football.
Their potential first-round opponents are Inter Club d'Escaldes (Andorra), Ararat-Armenia (Armenia), Sabah (Azerbaijan), Iberia 1999 Tbilisi (Georgia), Floriana (Malta), SS Tre Fiori (San Marino) and Vardar (North Macedonia).
Anyone but Sabah
No, there shouldn't.
Avoided Levski Sofia and Gyor but Sabah would be very tricky..
Bohs first round shouldn’t be too bad.
The draws are at 3pm, 4pm and 5pm for each competition.
Very cosy stadium beside the airport. My son and I walked through it after arriving thinking it was being used for the game but in shels case they actually used the stadium at the other end of the penninsula.
You could have watched the game from roadside but they put up some sort of covering around the fence. There actually looked like you might get a decent view on a big ledge overlooking the pitch but it might be awkward (and maybe dangerous) to get to it.
Got very few tickets for game but they couldn’t even fill their allocation, giving away home tickets I believe. Horrible bunch of c*nts, I’d nearly be cheering for Bohs they are that miserable.
The Estonian team would be my preference, we should be competitive and it's a nice place to visit. I'd love to go to the Faroe's but on a proper holiday.
faroes away games are tough , big home advantage over there. rfs are probably who bohs would want to avoid. derry got an absolute stinker of a pot.
There was only one pot for Derry. 1st qualifying round of Europa League is tiny.
I suppose my comment wasn't just about Friday night. It's been a pattern all season and bar the loss to Bohs in Dalymount Rovers dominated all the other games that ended in defeat. For all the squad depth etc. etc. Rovers biggest failing is not having a good old fashioned striker who can be relied on to score most weeks (and I do realise such players are thin on the ground).
Is it even a European draw anymore unless Rovers get an Icelandic team.
Regular League of Ireland football talk gets lost in the middle of the European talk. LoI in Europe and the FAI Cup would suit there own discussion threads IMHO.
Very little regular league of Ireland talk to be had between Sundays and Thursdays in fairness.
Again, no, no need. No demand.
Floriana is a nice draw for Rovers
Not bad. TNS in wales got the tough draw
Shels , Derry and Rovers had to play in the other ground as the stadium at the airport was undergoing renovations at the time . Not sure if that's been finished yet
Had heard not that long ago that it wasn’t, unless that’s since changed
CSKA Sofia for Derry, that’s one of the better draws they could have gotten tbh
Happy to draw Floriana, themselves or the side from San Marino were the two weakest looking on paper. Looking at the other ties, there are a few potential winners you'd fancy even in the 2nd round. Would be great to progress through two CL rounds and have group stage football secured before having a crack at some of the bigger sides.
can imagine a lot of rovers fans already looking up flights for Malta, expect another big away support for us.
Got an e-mail yesterday about the club putting on a charter flight with details to follow tomorrow.
likewise. Was curious to see what Ryanair would do and flight prices are are heading north pretty rapidly
And it's Gibraltar…
doable
must be happy with that
