Man Vs ManUre until 9/05/23
Tyrone had little rest having exhausted themselves 6 days earlier beating Donegal ,while Mayo had 2 weeks to prepare after the shambolic performance v Cavan..
We certainly have a big task on our hands sunday week.
How many championship matches have Mayo lost in the All-Ireland series in Castlebar? Lost to Cavan last year I don’t recall many others.
Derry the year before although on Peno's
Lost to Roscommon in the Connacht quarters in 2023, beat Louth by a point in castlebar in the qualifiers but arguably should have lost.
Lost to Galway in Connacht in castlebar the year before in 2022
And so on
So only lost one game in the All Ireland series ever (Cavan last year) unless you count the penalty shoot out again Derry then it would be two games ever.
Had some ropey qualifiers (Fermanagh in 2016,Derry in 2017) but went within a whisker of winning Sam both those years.
Fine margins.
oh so we’re only talking about all Ireland qualifer series matches now? Seriously.
The comment was about mchale park not being an advantage for us, clearly it’s not. We’ve had much better results on the road over the past 20 years
And super 8 games and any all ireland knock out game since the back door was introduced a quarter of a century ago.
Ah remember that Donegal game in McHale park in the super 8's. The ground absolutely full! What a day!
In the rain,we were written off by most.
Sold out MacHale park and a raucous Mayo support, flairs going off in the Albany end.
Brilliant occasion, i hope we see days like that again.
Our recent home championship record vs Galway and Roscommon is poor. However as pointed out it's pretty good against other sides.
We've had bad results away from home over the last 20 years too in case you've forgotten.. sligo and Longford 2010, Kildare 2018, Killarney 2019, Croke Park on a few occasions etc
Our home record definitely isn't as bad as some make out.
The ref bottled it that day
Bottled what exactly?
I think the ref had a chance to score a goal to level it a few minutes before the final whistle but put it wide. If he had scored it they would have had time to level up before full time!
No accomoodation in Omagh that night that i can see. We rented a house on air b n b for a league game there a few years ago, ill see if i can find it.
Hotel Rue is available.

Get in and get out with the win, I wouldn't be hanging around!
Any suggestions for parking?
Thanks all. We actually booked into Bundoran the night before to break up the journey
Having stayed in Omagh for a good few league games I couldnt recommend, id have to steer genuine Mayo fans clear.
Big town,nothing there,no match atmosphere.
Probably better off in a football town like Carrickmore if there is anything resembling a B&B
1 change to the starting 15. Touhy for Coen. Dawson is back in the subs.
With Donegal losing to Cork and now been thrown into Kerry's group, tomorrow game has suddenly got more significance.
Roscommon out, did not see that coming
up the rossies...
celebrated like they won the allireland now look...
Maybe puts Mayos win up in Clones into perspective. Some Mayo fans acting like we'd lost that game.
MMonaghan are a serious side, especially at home.
Also great to see roscommon find their level as usual.
How does it give any more significance to tomorrow's game exactly?
How's that?
It's looking like it could be the most open championship in years. It's great to see. Kerry would be hot favourites if they had the injuries sorted but they seem to be struggling.
The winner of Mayo v Tyrone goes into an AI quarter final, I haven't a clue what Mayo team is going to show up tomorrow. If centre field doesn't perform tomorrow for Mayo then the floodgates, which are already slightly ajar, will fly open and God only know what might run into the open ground. If we do ok at CF then we have a chance. If we get to a QF then the year hasn't been too bad and the camp might heal a bit. If we lose badly there'll be trouble.
I said before champ that a q-final would be a good year, a semi would be max we could expect. That still holds - failure to reach a q-final would be a disappointment but not a disaster (which it very much was for Ros today).
