Dairygold up 1c
arratipp up 1.61 to 37 inc vat and sustainability
up .12 protein and .4 bf this March, back 11 cents, pretty stark
Im still trying to figure out how the few extra in calf sales, was apparently going to fill the hole in the 35k jan/feb/march cheques here are less than last year...
Spread maize ground today plus grazing/silage blocks and circa 18k of fertilizer has gone out, the maths arent mathing
Not to annoy people, but the spread with Carbery seems to be getting wider at 3.8c. That would pay a good few bills. Buy a lot of diesel. Management of underperforming processors need to be asked to account for this. It's just not good enough.
It's because carbery makes most of its profit from the ingredients business. If it was depending solely on milk and powder, cheddar ect., the price would be very week.
They gave a talk last Autumn, and it's the flavourings, like the stuff that gives crisps its taste ect.
I would be pushing your CEO to diversify to help with the bad spells
Your feeding too much meal and have too much machinery. Have you not 100 units of N spread on platform yet and clover will do the rest. Only way you'll stay afloat, or so im being told.
Spreader and tractor are off the drip since last year, so im not going to bad, added benefit of not taking advantage of the local contractor and having them out working at a loss
Lakelands Have increased their price, not by alot, can't make out what the rise actually is as the story is long winded
up by 0.75 to 37 …..powders and proteins going pretty well but fats ,butter in particular are not ….any coop putting lot of milk into value added proteins should be well capable of paying more atm
37.62 base for Arra/tipp for April …price rise of 0.62 on March
I wonder will we see a drop off in European supplies at the same time as New Zealands drop off 🤔 this year. There was big percentage calved last autumn due to fertility issues with blue tongue
Lakelands Up 0.5cpl to 37.5cpl
Tirlan will be next of course now that they’re selling 5% of Glanbia and putting it in the cookie jar
Sold at 21. 47. I sold some day before yesterday at 22 and they went up to 23 yesterday....
Mad stuff selling them when theyre going so well, god knows what their going to plough quater of a billion of our money into, they well and truely are emptying the pantry...
Two recently elected board members locally will smile and nod, and do whatever Sean tells them too
reality in most coops is that all board members do exactly that
we’ve made the decision to exit milk next year- reality is that it’s not worth the hardship especially when there will be succession following- the real kick in the teeth will be that when we sell 200 milker 100 maidens and 100 calves the money from selling Glanbia shares this year will be greater- 70 years of farming for my dad has yielded less than a 10 minute decision to buy 200k worth of Glanbia shares in the late 2000s
Wait til you see next year milk will be back at 70cent and you'll be mad for action again!
Think of it this way, if he didn't have those well bred cows at the time he wouldn't have had the spare cash to buy those shares. Whatever way you look at it those cows have made ye wealthy.
You got a lucky break with Glanbia shares ,count your blessings .
Know plenty of farmers both good and bad that got lucky with Kerry shares and more farms were sold in debt just missed the shares bonanaza .
Them are the brakes and best of luck to your next move .
That's a great point. In the late 00s I could not buy a box of fags, after build my dwelling house.
Stanflt will be fine. Keep the head. There's more to life than cows.
Only The brave and the foolish will be left milking cows.
the lads that have cows dont want them the lads that haven't are bursting for it
see it all the time
It some joke when you see Galtee cheese produced with palm oil.
Our dairies are really scraping the bottom of the barrel in regard in the ingredients they use for branded products when you see this.
We're you not planning on putting in robots last November?.I guess everyone has to make decisions for the own circumstances. Its mad.… Directly the opposite going on here conversion loan approved, planning got and builder coming in September to build parlour, cubicles and slurry storage
Hmm.i doubt it somehow
When you've two decades plus done dairy farming yourself you might then understand the context of the families descision...
What milk price out of intrest is the bank using as break-even for your loan
If milk price stays were it's at , what's the point in being a busy fool?
As I said in my comment everyone has to make there own decision. No where did I state that they are making a right or wrong choice.
Regarding the details of my loan,Its well thought out and planned for further milk price drops but that's as far as ill discuss as im not going to hand you a stick to beat me with as i doubt youll have anything positive to add.Its pretty stressful at the moment organising everything without lads trying to make you second guess your decisions
